The best looking game to date on the PS3.

User Rating: 9.5 | Uncharted 2: Among Thieves PS3
Uncharted 2, just like the first Uncharted is a 3rd person shooter game about an archaeological treasure hunter named Nathan Drake. His adventure this time is to discover what happened to explorer Marco Polos lost fleet. The game eventually goes beyond Polos fleet so I will try not to spill to many beans. You discover that there was more about Marco Polos expedition to China. But your in a race against the games antagonist known as Zoran Lazarovic. The games cast includes some new and familiar faces, sure Sully and Elana make a comeback but joining the cast is a new girl called Chloe. Elana and Chloe both like Drake so there is a love triangle, but it gets settled in the end.
Uncharted 2 is a huge upgrade from the first game. Issues from the first game have been solved including the gunplay. There is now a grenade button which is a big improvement over the first games grenade mechanism were you had to put away your gun or assault rifle to switch to the grenade. Now at the push of a button, you can toss a grenade without having to put your weapon away. Graphics are also a huge improvement. This is the best graphics I have ever seen on the PS3. In all the levels, Everything is detailed, even the far corners. I could not find anything that was at a lower resolution or blurry. There are a lot of objects on screen at once. Drake is in more peril than ever because he gets a lot of close calls. The intensity is also ratched up. Besides the games start up, there is no loading screen. The game plays out in cutscenes to gameplay to cutscenes without any loading screens. It also no longer suffers from ingame loading. In the first Uncharted, the scenery and other objects will sometimes start out blurry then the good details will fade in. That is no longer an issue here. There are also a good variety of levels. In the first game, it mostly took place in a jungle environment, in this one, it not only has jungles, it has urban and mountain environments as well. The graphical detail in the snowy mountains is very impressive. You can slosh through snow and it looks very realistic. The sound is also a huge improvement. In the first game, when you reload a weapon, Drake tossed the used clip and it hit the ground but it made no sound. This time, it does make sound. The new music is also great. It really matches the situation well and its got an Asian style to it which fits because you will mostly be in Asia. The voice acting is also fantastic. It plays out like a Hollywood blockbuster.
I would say its worth the 60 bucks just for the epic story alone but just because you finished the story does not mean the game is over. Online multiplayer is available for up to 10 players and you can play different modes such as team deathmatch, co-op and a capture the flag style mode were you have to capture treasure and bring it to a specific location.
As good as this game is, I would like to point out some issues. There are certain ledges that look climbable but you cant climb them, the game appears to take a linear path and will only let you climb the cliffs and ledges that will actually get you further into the game. There was also a couple moments were the enemy AI was running against an object and got stuck there. But these issues are minor and they should not be a big deal. I also found it kinda awkward to have two Drakes or two Elanas running around during multiplayer.
Overall, I highly recommend this game to every PS3 owner. If you dont pick it up, your really missing out.
