Truly a masterpiece of games

User Rating: 9.5 | Uncharted 2: Among Thieves PS3
There are action games, and there are ACTION games.

Uncharted's first game for all really great things it did, like story, cover mechanics, graphics, sound, motion capture, and voice work. It's greatest fault was probably level design. it became very repetitive, and the player can easily tell when a gun fight was about to begin.

in Uncharted 2, only the second game to max out the PS3's ability (first was Metal Gear Solid 4), and it definently shows. the stories pacing and level design are 'flow' very smoothly from end to the next. The player will platform long sections of long decayed temple ruins, fight vertical battles through the city of Nepal, stealthily knockout Indian guards in a Turkish museum (i know it's weird), to dodging a tank and fighting Hind's.

In the sections where the game allows you to take in the sights. The level authenticity and detail put into the little Tibetan villages, and Nepali towns is truly awe inspiring and really bring the gamer into feeling like they're genuinely walking through a town in a far way place in the world.

stealth this time around actually works out better then it ever did in the last game. enemy AI can be a bit dumb, but hell... you can only make them so smart before it seems like your fighting omnipotent enemies.

Truly this game improves on every level over the original, the work Naughty Dog have accomplished really raises the bar for anyone who wants to make a high end game.

if your just looking for multiplayer it has that to, yes it doesn't have a lot of trophies for it, but there are a lot of ingame medals and bonuses that can be earned. There are both competitive and cooperative modes. It also fills in that Gears of War niche of cover-based shooter (my preference as it adds a layer of realism for real life shoot out).

For all owners of the PS3, this is truly a must buy. it's sharp wit and humor, great Indiana-Jones meets Tomb Raider summer blockbuster movie-like story, amazing graphics, truly authentic feeling environments, great characters, and great gameplay.

Don't pass this one up.
