Best 12 hour action movie I ever played!

User Rating: 9 | Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Game of the Year Edition PS3
Uncharted 2 is an excellent game. Graphics, sound, art, game play, story, characters all come together to provide a compelling combination of solid narrative and fun action.

That does not mean that Naughty Dog has nothing that they can improve on for Uncharted 3. Camera controls still have a few instances where they get finicky, characters really don't hit their stride until the second half of the game and a few of the action sequences are a bit over the top in the platforming sequences. And the game is not very long. I took about 12 hours to go through it and a slow pace (collecting all the treasures), some will blow through it faster and some might take longer. But these are nitpicks on a game that moves seamlessly from cut scenes to player control and back again. Bioware could take a few lessons on how to keep the player immersed in the story and still keep the gaming moving along. No clunky dialogue wheels here and yes that may be limiting in some of the character choices driving the narrative but it's better in keeping the immersive nature of the game and the story for the player.

There is also a mutliplayer mode that feels a little bit like a me too effort but it is fun, fast paced and with plenty of maps and challenges to unlock. Does not really add anything to the game but for those that want some more of the scenery, weapons or just cannot get enough opportunities to chase around in the Uncharted world the multiplayer is an acceptable addition that can give you some extra hours of fun for your money.

One final note on the GOTY edition, the DLC requires a code to be entered for download AND even though the code expired in October of 2010 the downloads still work. The player follows the instructions but if you get a notice at the end that the code has expired it's okay. Go out to your download list and you can grab them all from there after inputting the code.

Bottom line, there's not much to complain about here and the Uncharted franchise seems to have really hit it's stride in Honor Among Thieves. Enjoy the ride and my guess is after finishing it once it won't be long before you come back for a second viewing.
