With the success that MK 2 had they been trying to regain it with MK 3 but they failed so when they were getting ready to release MK Trilogy for the N64 they thought they would take another shot with Ultimate MK 3 this is more of a update of MK 3 than a sequel they added some characters that people wanted in MK 3 that weren't there. But they never fixed what was wrong with MK 3 which was the controls, hit detection and the combo system it was all broken in MK 3 and they never fixed it for Ultimate MK 3 than to top it off the system that was in place for this game was even more broken their own code system worked but %99 of the fatalities didn't work right or it would bug out the system. So it didn't work. It was nice to see different backgrounds and more characters (Hell I prefer Scorpion the most) but due to these little updates it doesn't get a high recommendation from me. It only gets a 6.5 which is a .5 increase from MK 3. It gets a M for Realistic Blood & Gore/Realistic Violence, so I don't really suggest that you go to buy this game but if you have a 360, than I suggest you download it on XBL it's a suitable substitute for the Cartridge game.
