It is a sad state of events to see the game that heralded the dawn of modern MMORPGs, not as the first but as the most complete, successful and innovative of the first generation, to degenerate into this. At this point EA will do anything to hold Ultima Online's precious few subscribers up to and including throwing samurai and ninja (in the previous expansion) and now Elves, which were never part of this world's history.
In fact the game allows not only the creation of brand new elven characters, but actually the transformation of existing ones into elvenkind by completing a series of challenging quests. EA's complete and utter irreverence to the Ultima franchise continues. All this makes me wonder whether the desperately needed sequel to UO would be a good thing or not...
