EA Sports releases a fantastic UEFA Champions League game, once again.
The most interesting feature of the game is definately the Treble. The Treble, which replaced Season from the previous game offers to you new options, teams and things to do in order for your team to win the domestic championship and cup, alongside with the UEFA Champions League. While in the previous game the missions were too easy, now there are missions that can be completed after many hard tries, and are regarded as impossible to beat.
Another good addition is the one of the instant play. For example, if you are awarded a free kick or a corner, you can take it immediately, just by pressing one button. This is not such a cracking feature, but sometimes it can make the difference. At last the developing team has created a good and not useful on-pitch feature. It was high time.
The rest modes are the Champions League, where you can take up to eight teams and drive them as far as you can in the competition, and the missions mode, where you play past matches of the tournament in a situation mode trying to achieve some certain goals, which differ from game to game.
What the game lacks is a good online play. In the game, little you can do to arrange a matchup, as the online system is too complex to follow.
The graphics of UCL 06/07 are amazing, making the stadiums and players to look very realistic. Nevertheless there are many bugs in the game which may break your opinion over the game, but using some patches you may overcome this little obstacle.
UEFA Champions League is a unique experience, when you close your eyes in front of its disadvantages. I think that EA will have to work harder if they are to develop a soccer sim-breakthrough.
