More like Tropico 3: Reloaded

User Rating: 6 | Tropico 4 PC
There's really not much to say here, as everything that was true of Tropico 3 is still true. If you've never played it, read the reviews for it, and consider buying the gold edition, instead of this. It's the same game, for a fraction of the cost.

From the trailers and such, it was hard to tell for sure how much might have changed. Sure, it looked identical, but maybe they revamped the gameplay or added some new layers to it, or something.. but no, nothing like that. It's just a handful of new campaign missions, and the new buildings don't add anything at all which might make this feel like a new game. Things like the Ministry building, and the ability to import goods are ok additions, but they're more like tweaks to the original gameplay than anything that really matters.

Guess there's not much point in saying this in so many different ways, but I can't give this game a good rating, since its really just Tropico 3. If you've never played that, and don't mind spending a little extra, sure, pick this up. It's a good city builder with a unique spin. Graphics are getting dated, but the gameplay makes up for it.

If you've already played Tropico 3 into the ground though, this will just feel like digging it up again. Really, to say it brings nothing new to the series to make it fun again is an understatement. It's just the same damn game I got bored of two years ago.
