Gamespot, I think a 6.5 is a little too harsh...
I got this game for Christmas last year, and I wasn't disappointed
The game is followed by the awesome show "Transformers: Prime".
Basically, this is a Third Person Shooter set during "The War for Cybertron".
Weapons:
Many of the weapons are great, some them just suck. And, I think the characters should hold their rifles and shotguns with 2 hands, yeah, you get a large variety of weapons each Character can use, you just get different spawning equipment. Also, you can get literally heavy weapons that slow you down, but are powerful.
Alt Modes:
You never really get much important times to transform unless you run out of ammo with your gun. When you get to use your vehicle mode, you can drive/fly really fast and do some really fun stunts, and you can boost as well.
Abilities:
Characters have special abilities for their robot modes and vehicle modes, like spawning a sentry, dashing, hoverpacks and such, they are very useful. The cars have a "dash barrier" which I don't know the function, the tanks have a U-turn and other abilities.
All abilities have to cool down after being used.
Gameplay:
The level designs and gameplay is fun and and almost amazing, the levels are huge and have lots of stuff. My favorite parts are the Trypticon space battle and the Space Slug ride (Space Slugs = AWESOME!)
Overall, the game isn't hollywood, but it doesn't walk the plank either, I'd recommend renting this first.
