Kevin VanOrd and Optimus Prime transform this review for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.
1 Like I genuinely loved this game, thought the campaign was amazing! Always mixing things up, never boring, great core shooting, epic cinematic style (much better than the recent TF Movie crud). The multiplayer is great too... Just my opinion, best game I played this year.
1 Like very late to comment here but i feel sorry for kevin when reading this thread. A lot of folks here who were obviously, like myself, were looking forward to this game but now finished, can say the campaign came up well below expectations. No point fervently defending it as a fan or whatever, the game was fine but generally half-boiled and 7/10 is about right!
3 Like gamespot really need to sort out there reviewing team because this was a great game as was (war for cybertron) it deserved at least a 8.said that the switching from characters made it even better throughout the story. all other video game websites gave this more credit then terrible biased.
6 Like What a terrible review, the one button boss fight is a lie and now variety is a problem. suggesting that it can't stand up to "classic modern shooters" is rubbish, and apparently transforming into a car is "normal shooter stuff". I likened WfC to Arkham Asylum and I'm going to to do the same here, Fall of Cybertron is like Arkham City, everything was improved upon the from the previous game and more was added. possibly even a GOTY contender for me.
5 Like Kevin is by far the worst choice for a videoreviewer, even surpassing the dreadfull en extreeeeemely mindnumbing giancarlo varanini (take that back.. how anyone ever thought about giving him screentime, I honestly cannot pathom) .. I dont care if you lost weight, I don't care if you wrote the review, I don't care if you feel justified to let your voice be heard outside of written text, I want to hear a voice that doesn't distract from the video I'm watching with its horridness. The emphasis placed on some words is annoying and you and Gina are a chore to listen to. Take a page from someone else's book and hire a professional to voice those reviews so all reviews have the same level of NOT SUCK. And don't worry about not being original, this site never has been anyway...
@Urizen316 I will say this much. VanOrd is the WRONG person to review this game. And quite a few of your comments about his review style however harsh (and funny) are dead on correct.
I really enjoyed War of Cybertron. And this game was even better.
1 Like @Urizen316 Kevin is the worst choice for a certain type of games, like platformers proper, Action, action/adventure, or any game that that requires quick reflexes etc. His lame excuse for a review for Mirror's edge is a shining example of that.

4 Like My brother bought the ps3 version . I've played through it a bit and have had no problems at all with it.... What are you talking about freezing and random pixels... Also found it to be enjoyable game. Metacritic average is 8.5 and your giving it a 7.0/6.5......... hmmmmmmmm.......... I like gamespot but yer..... I don't need to say any more really.

Sorry, but Kevin VanTurd's review is filled with lies, not the least of which is the "final showdown" which he describes as being a "one button" deal. WRONG.
This final showdown is between Optimus and Megatron, in a SWORD duel that plays out like a hack & slash game. EPIC.
2 Like Just beat the campaign. This review is garbage. One of the best single-player experiences of all-time.
3 Like Again the PS3 version is the worst = lower resolution, hickups, even crash needing reebot. And I own a PS3 and my 360 is broken -_-
Why are always the PS3 version worse?
4 Like @flesh19no Cause developers make the 360 version first and port it to the PS3 version. If they made it from scratch the PS3 version would be amazing. The file size on this game is only 8.5gb where as the PS3 bluray disc holds 25gb for single layer so there is tons of room for extras and improvements but companies are not willing to spend they extra money just to make 2 different versions. It's also pretty common with Activision just look at the Skylanders game there isn't much difference between all of the consoles including the WII version cause Activision know that kids will want it regardless of good graphics or not.

2 Like This is why I upgraded my pc and haven't played my console for nearly a year. I don't play to endure video glitches due to outdated hardware.
Why are gamers enduring so much from such old systems? Its just not good enough!
This is a good game when it goes on sale for less than 10 bucks. Good for a lark but not enough substance for lastability. By christmas this game will be mostly forgotten or traded in for that same 10 bucks value
2 Like so ... yes , seems there is time for a NEW console ... there should NOT be a game in 2012 that freezes up a console... you do not pay for it to freeze or even slow down.
3 Like @diabolik_023 The fact that it freezes up the console is largely the devs fault, not the console, they chose to release a buggy game that freezes.
2 Like ya know everytime i play any part of this game i just cant see how it's a 6.5, a fair game. i'm all for knocking a half point off for console specific technical errors, even though i really havent been plagued by any aside from loading in textures, but that happens with arkham city and BF3 too so wtf? I still cant help but feel that this game's highest score should be an 8.0, ya know?
@xw1ng yeah could be, 8.0 is too much, 7 is a given. But I'll wait for a significant drop in price. Great value is right there. Together with a good multi-player option. Don't pret too high.
1 Like More often i hear that the Ps3 or Xbox360 has some technical problems , consolas are getting to weak ? Seems the Pc is starting to be the Ultimate Game Mashine .
2 Like The PS3 requires a lot of specialized programming to take advantage of its full power due to its unconventional Cell processors.
Companies that develop exclusively for PS3 will engineer their games around the PS3 hardware specifically, but most cross-platform developers - and anyone who uses Unreal in particular, which is about half the game industry at this point - will not engineer specifically around Cell, and consquently won't get as much out of it.
Additionally, the 360 has the advantage of having 512MB of unified memory, whereas the PS3 has 256MB of system memory, and 256MB of graphics memory. In practice, games end up having significantly less available memory on the PS3. If the 360 was the primary target during development, that can make fitting everything into the PS3's memory at the end difficult, and reducing texture quality etc. are ugly compromises that sometimes have to be made in order to get everything to fit.
The PS3 also has a slower graphics processor than the 360. Developers who target the PS3 exclusively will try to compensate for this by offloading some tasks that would otherwise be handed by the graphics hardware to the Cell processors. Again though, cross-platform developers are more reluctant to creating significant differences between how their games operate on different platforms.
1 Like I'd say 7.5 for the others and 6.5 for the PS3 for being so buggy. That Papa & Yo game is the one that deserves a 7 or lower.
1 Like Are you kidding me? This is one of the best games I have ever played and I have it on PS3! It has frozen on me once and a few places get frustrating but it is the most epic game I have ever seen in my life!!!!!
1 Like There were a lot of negative topics in this video considering the review score was a 7. Is it such a bad thing that the game is cinematically driven? Focus on great acting and video has become a primary tool that results in immersive action for modern games. There maybe a need for tweaking but to place such a negative spin on high definition filmic story telling might be a tad harsh. You're rating the game 'good' but the majority of what you said in this review is bad. I'm confused.
I usually purchase my games based on your reviews and my own personal interest, however the video footage made the game look like and explosion of fun, the comments conflicted with how interested I became to play it. There was also very little mention of the sound design, was the music epic? Did the destruction and mayhem convince your ears? This can be a huge factor in an action game.
3 Like Kevin VanOrd has to be the most inconsistent critic on the Gamespot team, he marks the PS3 version of this game lower than the Xbox 360 version for techinal issues, but he did not rate the PS3 version of Skyrim lower even though it was completely unplayable. Either Kevin VanOrd is a Bethesda fanboy, or Bethesda jumped a sack full of money on his desk.
2 Like Gamespot team seem to be like Transformer haters by the looks of it. Generally both this and war for cybertron have scored extremely well on other sites. The multiplayer and escalation mode is fantastic and I have poured many hours into those modes on the first game let alone the action packed campaign modes! Just gutted no co-op campaign :(
1 Like I'm sure it's not the processor or graphics chip that is making the PS3 version look inferior but more so the poor tweaking of it through its software transition to the PS3 hardware.
