I'd like to join/monitor the tournament

If Joining: I'll be an Infiltrator
If Monitoring: I'll be an Scientist

Now Playing: Uncharted 2:Among Thieves(ONLINE),Transformers FoC(ONLINE), Metal Gear Solid 4:Guns of The Patriots.(OFFLINE) - Nov 12, 2012 7:38 am GMTOk. I know I've left this topic alone for while. Doesn't mean I'm no longer interested, just had life to deal with.
Anyway, I'm glad we're starting to pick up interest, however, we're still in the developmental stage. It's still early, but we should really get to figuring things out.
We may have a tentative start date, but, of course, nothing is etched in stone yet. I'll be concerned about that last.
We should start with ground rules. I mentioned them earlier and they're welcomed to debates or tweaks possibly (I have issues with some rules myself). Here's the current list.
1. Four players to a team.
2. Only one of each class (Infiltrator, Destroyer, Titan, and Scientist) to a team.
3. Once a character has been used, they are locked for the rest of the tournament.
4. No changing class mid-tournament or mid-game.
5. Teammates must remain on the same team throughout the tournament. In the event team member is no longer available, the team may choose a new player to join or continue with out him/her.
6. In the event a player has lost connection, the match will go on.
7. If all players lose connection, the match must be restarted.
8. Map items (Ultra-Power Core, Energon Recharger, etc) are not allowed.
9. Glitching outside the map is not allowed.
10. Camping is not allowed.
Again, just like the start date, the rules are up for debate and we should get started on it now so we're not rushing at the last minute. We also should truly figure out how to regulate the matches.
On a side note...
Terrapon posted...how long should someone be allowed to stay in one spot?
I still maintain that there is no reason to camp in a Conquest match regardless of what class you are. Camping is for people wanting to rack up kills (and who also suck at doing it up close and personal). In a Team Deathmatch or Head Hunter scenario, understandable. In a Conquest match though? Why? I've might have been joking a little when I made that killstreak scenario, but the point still stands: All the kills in the game won't help you if your team loses because the opposing team was busy capturing nodes while you were camping.
Like the rest of the rules, it's still up for debate. My vote is to not allow it at all, but there could be others like you who disagree with reason. And I'm always open to suggestions.

Was about to this, thanks for that.
After reading all of these posts, I agree with most of these proposed rules with a few things I want to mention though.
I think people should be allowed to change their build for a character or switch to any preset builds during a match as long as they remain as the same character throughout matches and tournaments.
As for the camping rule, I find campers ineffective in every match of conquest I've ever played. Doing it will only result in negative effects for their team so I don't think there should be any rule against it. Especially with the cap of it being a 4v4, it won't be difficult to determine where someone is camping from and easily taking them out.
Okay so if anyone has their teams ready, PM or post here the list of your PSN IDs and what class each PSN ID will be playing.
Here's the list I'll update as the names come in. (will add more teams if these fill up)

http://www.youtube.com/user/OrdinaryJon?feature=mhee - Nov 18, 2012 11:16 am GMTI dont think i ever said count me in but yeah count me in. What about the rule of not using the energon recharger coil item on the map or any other items?
---
xENDERSgotGAMEx (PSN) - Nov 18, 2012 1:35 pm GMTCamping, all weapons and all field pickups should be allowed. The energon recharger is not as effective as it used to be and there is also no way to keep track of who picked it up, unless someone is seen using it. scientists can easily fly away with it and use it in a remote location.
Moderators/ refs should be scientists, colored pink or bright red so they can be easily spotted and avoided. Therefor, no scientist on any team should be these colors.
as ordinaryJon said, people need to put their teams together. This will never happen if everyone keeps posting "count me in" or defining what camping is. - Nov 18, 2012 2:55 pm GMTHave the refs be healers and unless the person is a scientist next to the person that is recovering health then you can tell they are using a item.
---
xENDERSgotGAMEx (PSN) - Nov 18, 2012 4:46 pm GMTOk, So here's an updated list of rules.
1. Four players to a team.
2. Only one of each class (Infiltrator, Destroyer, Titan, and Scientist) to a team.
3. No changing class mid-tournament or mid-game. (Character switching within the class is allowed.)
4. Teammates must remain on the same team throughout the tournament. In the event team member is no longer available, the team may choose a new player to join or continue with out him/her.
5. In the event a player has lost connection, the match will go on.
6. If all players lose connection, the match must be restarted.
7. Glitching outside the map is not allowed.
A couple notes: I was always against not being able to switch builds within the class and not being able to use map items. I didn't see the point in them. About camping, I know one thing: I don't want nobody doing it on MY team!!
Speaking of teams, it's a little early to start establishing them. First we need to find out who's in. Then we need to find out who's willing to ref and how this will happen.
So I say we start establishing who's in.
Starting with:
OrdinaryJon/(PSN unknown)
Terrapon/xENDERSgotGAMEx
IrontheHedgehog
CyberSmacker/RockSmacker
Nhella/DzznuttsEniomouf
Anybody else who wants in now just need to add to the list or have somebody already in vouch for them.

I'm The N-Hella, and I approve of this message. - Nov 18, 2012 5:07 pm GMTI play a lot of conquest and I know the maps pretty well, so I'd be willing to be a ref for this tournament. If someone needed an extra player to fill out a team, I could do that too.
PSN : CubBoltPen
I do think we're overthinking a lot as far as some of these restrictions. Logistically, refs being able to catch all of these will be tough. And a lot of them should be left to the discretion of the team or individual as strategy.
*Camping : Are we going to have a stop watch timing how long someone stands still? Not feasible. Besides, that should be a team decision. If they think having someone camping and sniping opponents is more of a benefit than that person capturing nodes, that should be their choice as a strategy.
*Switching Loadouts (same Class) : Another thing that's going to be next to impossible to verify. And another thing that should be left to the individual. If your current loadout is not effective, why should you be stuck with it the entire match? Change it and try to be more competitive. To me, that's strategy.
*Banning Power Ups : Catching Energon Recharger and Dual Power Core would be easy enough, but the Intercooler would be more difficult. Not sure what is accomplished with banning these though.
*Banning certain weapons (everyone say it with me now, "Gear Shreader!!"
: Again, something that should be left to the team. If they value more firepower (Gear Shreader/Sentry) over support (Orbital Pistol/Heal), that's a strategy.
My opinion, refs should just be watching for a violation of more than one Class being used on one team and possibly the use of Power Ups. Realistically, that's probably the most we can expect.
We do need to decide what the penalty for a violation is though. Forfeit of match or point loss. - Nov 18, 2012 8:22 pm GMTI'm in for the tourney, my PSN is in my sig, my only problem now is finding a team to be a part of.

"It's not who you are underneath, but what you do that defines you." - Batman - Nov 18, 2012 8:23 pm GMTHow about the player that cheats must instantly leave the game until next round(or go somewhere in a corner.). if the player refuses..(stubborn) the host of the match (should probably be a ref) well quit the game and if necessary well restart the match and not invite that player. or the player if willing (or sorry of what he/she did) well accept the x deaths to x kills the cheating caused.
I never meant too say that switching loadouts to be a rule just changing the custom of the loadouts during the tournament. but sense this would be almost impossible to track no penalty should be received in case of wrongfully accusing.
and i like what CunBoltPen said. it should be up to the team. and that another thing.
if we decide that all players must respect the majority rules of their team then 3 of the team members must send a message to a ref.

I actually like this idea. Granted, it puts the cheater's team at a disadvantage, but they should have made sure their teammates were on the up'n'up.
I also do agree with regulations among teams. Take camping for example. As I stated, I don't want people doing on my team. Another team may want to. Fine, that's on them. Same thing with weapons or custom loadouts. In this case, what real difference does it make as long the player stays within the same class? Teams should discuss among themselves how they intend to play.
I actually think the ground rules are fine as is. Now we need to establish how to enforce them.
BTW: I volunteer to keep this list updated.

I'm The N-Hella, and I approve of this message. - Nov 19, 2012 8:54 am GMTThanks to Nhella for that list, I will also be keeping a list in that spreadsheet. I'll also be keeping track of a tournament leader board
. For now I'm just adding in all the PSN ids as they come in to get a count of players. As of right now we have 7 confirmed with myself as a maybe. I don't think I should participate because if I end up being on the winning team I'll feel bad since I'm hosting the tournament lol. I don't know it's up to you gentlemen, but I think I shouldn't play in it.
Anyways, keep checking the spreadsheet for updates and don't forget to either pm me your team with ids and classes and spread the word to your fellow cybertronains not on this message board!
My PSN incase people are wondering is CycloneDestroyer. You can pm me there too if that's easier.

http://www.youtube.com/user/OrdinaryJon?feature=mhee - Nov 19, 2012 11:59 am GMTFair enough, I'll remove your name from this list just as a temporarily measure. However, just noting, I wouldn't care if you decided to actually participate and won. As far as I'm concerned, as long as you and your team played well (read: not cheated), then the best team won. It wouldn't be like you rigged the game somehow (I hope).
Anyway, I'll keep updating the list here if you're handling yours.
Current Players list:

I'm The N-Hella, and I approve of this message. - Nov 19, 2012 12:55 pm GMTHave you guys decided on a date to do this? I recently took a break from this to play Uncharted 2 after getting fed up with the GS. (Caused me to miss double XP weekend. -_-) But now that they updated I should be a regular again.
So, should I just expect it to be around winter break sometime?

PSN ID: SniperMusician75
Currently Playing: Transformers: FoC, Uncharted 1&2, and LittleBigPlanet 2 - Nov 19, 2012 6:58 pm GMTNo specific date made out yet but I'm estimating winter break the be the best time. If anyone has anything better to suggest go ahead. I think we should focus on teams being made before deciding a date. We need like 10 more people to make 6 teams.
