This game has a great story and character development, but it's too short.

I picked this game up because I was thoroughly impressed with Cing's Hotel Dusk: Room 215. I loved that game and it really changed how I looked at video games. I pretty much play a very distinct and select group of games: they have to have a great single-player campaign and not put too much emphasis on multiplayer, have a good story, have good dialog, and have good characters. This game has all of those things. I loved the story and characters in this game. I thought the story was genuinely good and the plot twists were unexpected and exciting. I was impressed with how this game made me use my DS in ways that I had not thought of before (like blowing into the mic, closing and reopening the DS, and looking at the reflections of the two screens). Some of the puzzles provided a difficulty that made them challenging, but not impossible, and entirely entertaining. It was very on par with Hotel Dusk. Anyone who's played Hotel Dusk will recognize the similarities: the quizzes at the end of chapters, the overhead view, the thorough scanning of everything to find something important. I just have one major complaint: it was too short. I finished it in about 6 hours. On the other hand, I got my copy used for $4 USD. For 4 bucks, it was pretty good. It provided entertainment and I will definitely play through it again eventually because of some special ending the second time through. I really only recommend this game to people who absolutely loved Hotel Dusk and want a similar game. Of course, I would recommend it to anyone who loves good story and characters, as well, but I would have to recommend Hotel Dusk to those people first, and then Trace Memory.
