"Solid"
I've been a big fan of the Toy Story movie trilogy, but the games in the past have been quite lame. This game on takes a different approach to tying the game into the movie plot. It has a bit of an open world feel to it since you can choose what level you want to play next. The game expands upon the different locations challenging you with different tasks that you have to complete. The tasks are generally pretty easy for an experienced gamer, but what makes this game so great is the cooperative play mode allowing a second player to play along with you as either the same character or a different story character. This makes for completing the levels a little more fun allowing to play off of the other player's moves and taking advantage of their skills such as Buzz's ability to throw other characters fairly far to reach high places. There's a bit of a scavenger hunt element to the game to find "cards" which are collected to unlock items in Al's Toy Barn. Along with the cards, there are coins which you use to buy small items from the Toy Barn as well. Overall, the game is fairly straight forward, but you will find yourself repeating parts of levels over and over again because it is very easy to die in certain places and fall off of platforms. The game doesn't enclose you like games such as God of War which keeps you from falling off of cliffs during combat. It takes a little more skill in this game to dispatch enemies or jump from platform to platform. The Toy Box mode is a little different allowing you to complete tasks withing a Wild West environment in which you're the sheriff. In the PS3 version, you are allowed the pleasure of playing as Zurg in the Toy Box mode as well.
For any Toy Story fan, this is a game worth playing.
