Will you win out or spin out?

Fasten your seatbelts for our $1,000 Need for Speed Carbon™ (Xbox 360) tournament. Get ready for intense racing action where your driving
techniques will be tested on deserted city streets and perilous canyon curves. The chase for the grand prize starts with a series of circuit races and finishes with a Pursuit Knockout race.
Drivers, start your engines for the thrill ride of your life! Tournament registration will begin Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at 3:00PM PT.
In the Road Rage tournament, forty-eight drivers will fight for the final six spots over a week of high-speed canyon racing. Only the top 3 from each race will advance to the next track, but the Race Finale will keep the competition close!

And of course, we'll broadcast the Race Finale live on GameSpot Tournament TV. The six fastest racers will battle in Knockout Pursuit, where the last-place drivers transform into police officers and try to take down the other racers for revenge. You'll get to watch your favorite GameSpot editors cover the entire race with sharp commentary, gameplay analysis, and interviews with the fastest racers.

NEWS
December 13, 2006
Hi all! I am full of clarifications, but I wanted to add one more regarding NOS in the tournament. The intention in Road Rage is to not allow drivers to use NOS, but for some reason, Electronic Arts deemed it fit to allow some vehicles to use NOS, even un multiplayer races that have the option turned off.

Therefore, any bonus or custom car--ANY vehicle--that allows use of NOS even in multiplayer races that have the option turned off are disallowed. Everyone has been a great sport about the issue, but because I have been asked to further explain, I wanted to make sure the expectations were clear.

Also, I ask that all players review the format for the race finale again, if you haven't already done so. It is very important to me that everyone understand the match format for the finals on Friday. I am going to paste the appropriate sections here:

- The format for the Race Finale is different from the prior rounds. The Finale race is in Pursuit Knockout mode.

-In Pursuit Knockout, the last racer to cross the finish line in each lap is eliminated and returns as a cop. As a cop, each player then attempts to interfere in the progress of the remaining racers.

- Racers will be joined by two GameSpot celebrities. During the first two laps, the GameSpot Admin vehicles should be the last ones to cross the finish line. For the remainder of the race, the finalists will continue to complete. Each player to cross the finish line will in turn return as a cop, and will then seek to impede the progress of the remaining racers. The winner of the race will be the last non-cop player remaining. The second place winner will be the last contestant eliminated within the race format. The third place winner will be the next to last contestant eliminated within the race format.

- Pursuit Knockout mode encourages collisions, and the two GameSpot celebrities will be joining the race as participants. As cops, they may actively seek to pursue the non-cop contestants, just as the eliminated contestants will do. This is the nature of the Race Finale. Any disputes arising from issues of collisions with other racers in the Race Finale, including the GameSpot Admin players, will be disregarded.

If anyone has questions regarding the change, or the format of the race finale, please email me at gameadmin@gamespot.com. Thanks!
