Wait-listed players will be chosen if a contestant is not available to participate at the time of their Tournament match. Contestants will be notified via e-mail about the Tournament schedule and their allotted time slot for the qualifying round. Contestants must follow the instructions provided in the notification e-mail to participate.
The Tournament is open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and Canada (excluding the province of Quebec) who are at least thirteen years of age on March 14th, 2006, except employees and their immediate families of Sponsor, its affiliates, subsidiaries, and its advertising and promotion agencies. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited.
No purchase or payment necessary to enter. The Tournament begins March 14th, 2006, 5:00PM PT and ends March 17th, 2006 7:00 PM PT.
To participate:
- The Tournament is open to U.S. and Canadian Residents only (excluding the province of Quebec) and you must be 13 years of age or older.
- You must have the full version of the game F.E.A.R. installed with patch version 1.03.
- Every contestant has a chance to sign up for the tournament and to create his or her own team. It is not required for the contestant to know everyone on the team.
- It is advised that all contestants check their day of the Tournament to confirm that they can compete comfortably on GameSpot West Coast servers.
- Voice communication and team text chat is allowed during matches. Global text chat will only be used by Tournament staff. Any team member participating in the tournament who chooses to ignore this rule may be disqualified at the discretion of the tournament staff.
Restrictions:
- Any disorderly behavior disqualifies contestants from participation, finals, or prizes. Tournament staff members are the final arbiters in all situations, and they have the final say in every situation; this includes tournament chat. Please refrain from using harassing, negative, or profane language in either the tournament chat or in the game server.
- No cheats or hacks of any kind are to be used. Players will be disqualified if they are caught using any cheat or 3rd party "helper" applications.
- Macros will not be accepted. We do have ways to detect them, and if you are caught at any time using them, you and your team will be disqualified from the tournament, and if your team wins, you will be exempt from receiving any prizes and will not be able to participate in future tournaments.
- Taking advantage of known exploits in the game is also considered cheating. Exploits in the game could be a variety of things, such as bugs that allow you to pass through or shoot through walls, doors, and windows. If a tournament staff member finds that you are cheating, you will be disqualified from the tournament immediately with no recourse for yourself.
- Spectator mode is reserved for tournament staff only; no player should ever be in spectator mode.
- Flag camping is a valid tactic, and is not against our rules, should a team use that method of Gameplay to hold off an enemy from capturing their flag, it will not be a violation of our rules and Tournament Admins will not stop or disqualify a team for doing so.
- These rules are subject to change at any time. If any changes to the rules occur, you will be notified through the Tournament news page and a Tournament forum post; a time stamp will be on any Web pages that have been revised.
Match Format:
- The teams will compete for Flag Captures with the winning team being the first to achieve 6 flag caps in a given match.
- The teams will have 25 minutes to achieve the most flag caps.
- Teams can win by either having the most flag captures by the end of the 25 minute period, or by achieving 6 flag caps in less than that time.
- If the match ends in a tie, the server will go into a "Sudden Death" mode for 5 minutes to facilitate a win for either side. If neither team is able to score a flag capture during the 5 minutes of overtime, we will name the victor based on the cumulative score for the entire team.
