Team Ares shuts out opponents to win Fight The F.E.A.R. tournament
In Gamespot Tournament TV's Fight The F.E.A.R. tournament, Team Ares held onto a defensive strategy to push to an overtime victory in a shutout game of Capture The Flag. Over twenty-five minutes and a five minute overtime, there were no flag captures and the victory was awarded to Team Ares on number of kills.
From the moment the tournament started, it was clear that Team Ares was going to stay on the defensive, not making any offensive moves. Ares players were massively more accurate, with 200+ kills to the 30+ kills the Prometheus had at the very end.
"They just needed to get around that corner, and they could've capped," producer Rob Loftus said, discussing the strategy Prometheus was applying.
Despite several incursions into their base, Promethus players were only able to pick up the flag a few times, never going so far as to even get it out of Team Ares' base.
There was some controversy early on during the initial matchups as one team accused another of cheating, however the judges reviewed footage and found no evidence of cheating. The team that was accusing the other of cheating, however, had a spectator in the match, which is clearly against the rules, so the team's loss was upheld and they were disqualified to boot.
All members of Team Ares will win $200 gift certificates to Best Buy, and Team Prometheus will each recieve $120 Best Buy gift certificates.
