Your entry constitutes your full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and Regulations and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Tournament.
OFFICIAL RULES:
To enter, go to http://www.gamespot.com/tournaments/cohoct06/index.php and click to join an open time slot. It is necessary to first log in to the GameSpot Web site. Registration will begin on Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at 3:00 p.m. PT and end on Monday, Oct 23, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. PT. The first sixty-four (64) registrants will be accepted as contestants in the Tournament. Wait-listed contestants will be chosen to participate in the Tournament, based on the order in which they registered and the order in which they check in the day of their event. Wait-listed players will be chosen if a contestant is not available to participate at the time of their Tournament match. Contestants will be notified via e-mail about the Tournament schedule and their allotted time slot for the qualifying round. Contestants must follow the instructions provided in the notification e-mail to participate.
The Tournament is open to legal residents of the 50 United States (including the District of Columbia) and Canada (excluding the province of Quebec) who are at least 13 years of age on October 18, 2006, except employees and their immediate families and those living in the same household of Sponsor, its affiliates, its subsidiaries, and its advertising and promotion agencies. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Void in Quebec and where prohibited.
No purchase or payment necessary to enter. The Tournament begins Monday, October 23, 2006, at 12:00 p.m. PT and ends Friday, October 27, 2006 at approximately 5:30 p.m. PT.
To participate:
- You must be ready to join the Tournament and your match within the time limit given. If you do not have a Relic Online account or cannot confirm your Relic Online Account information upon signup, you will not be able to sign up for this Tournament.
- Technical requirements to participate are: PC capable of running Company of Heroes; Relic Online account, created in the game’s Multiplayer/Online menu; stable Internet connection; Company of Heroes game (PC).
- Because hosted matches utilize the Relic Online in-game matchmaking service, there is no guarantee that each match will be able to start at the specific time it is listed. All rescheduled matches are at the discretion of the GameSpot Admins.
Restrictions:
- Any disorderly behavior, disputes or harassment disqualifies contestants from participation, finals, or prizes. Tournament staff members are the final arbiters in all situations, and they have the final say in every situation; this includes Tournament chat and changes in the rules. Please refrain from using harassing, negative, or profane language in either the Tournament chat or the game instance.
- No cheats or hacks of any kind are to be used. Players will be disqualified if they are caught using any cheat or third-party "helper" applications.
- Taking advantage of known exploits in the game is also considered cheating. Exploits in the game could be a variety of things, such as bugs that allow you to hide under obstacles or objects in the game to gain invulnerability. If a GameSpot Admin finds that you are cheating, you will be disqualified from the Tournament immediately with no recourse for yourself.
- These rules are subject to change at any time. If any changes to the rules occur, you will be notified through the Tournament news page and a Tournament forum post; a time stamp will be on any Web pages that have been revised. It is required that all participants review either the GameSpot Tournament forum or Tournament announcement page for such notices. Sponsor will not be responsible for players who do not review and make themselves aware of updates that are posted publicly and related to any changes to the official rules.
Tournament Format:
- Matches are 1 vs. 1 skirmishes played on 2 vs. 2 maps so that at least one GameSpot Admin may view the match.
- A GameSpot Admin will create a game with the announced game name and password. The players scheduled will join the instance, and once joined, the GameSpot Admin will begin the game. The match will be set up at least 5 minutes prior to official start time. Once the match has begun, GameSpot Admins will quit the match to spectate, and the remaining players will battle for victory.
- Participants MUST join the GameSpot Tournament Chat at least 15 minutes before your match is to begin.
- If any participants do not appear for roll call at least 15 minutes before the scheduled match time, they may be disqualified with no recourse for themselves. Disqualification for being late is at the sole discretion of the GameSpot Admins.
- Your scheduled match time is when your match should start. It is important that all players be ready and prepared before their match begins. Sponsor cannot make exceptions for participants who are unprepared.
- GameSpot Admins will be available in the Tournament Chat to ensure everything is proceeding as planned before each match.

The Released Parties assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, or other failure of or related to the software platform on which the Tournament is played. The Released Parties are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Tournament.
