Shogun 2 Crobulls review. Hope You like it!
Games campangin is is about hundred years long wich is somewhat shorter then the rest of series, but each year has 4 turns/seasons. At the beginig game is slow paced and battles are relatively small and short which is kinda borning. Diplomacy and trade are 2 segments of game which are absolutely great, in early gameplay, but things change in late game because every singe shogunate will declare war on you after you claim shoguns title by conquering city of Edo. Another drawback is lack of unit diversity except few uniqe units for each great clan. The number of units isnt small but I think we all got used on large range of faction units in previous series games like Rome or Medieval TW.
Land battles are just amaizing because of wonderful landscape unit design and overall feelig you get when you clash your samurais with opponents.Cinematics are great also there are wounded soldiers and slight shake of camera when you zoom it to your marching units. Navy battles are also well made and they play important in-game role. Dominance on sea gives you an edge over your enemy and gives you access to rich trade routes and possibility to block enemy ones.
Economic system lays on taxation and somewhat on trade with other clans. Trade with other clans is very shaky cause they easy can switch sides and go in war against you. So to have strong economy player has to devolp inner trade and resurce exploatation. Various agents with their unique abbilities give game a deeper gameplay especialy late in game when religion becomes a major issue and espionage/intel becomes as much important as battles.
All in all game has its charm and quality but I've got a feeling that something is missing, but there's no perfect game right? This is my firs review so I hope you like it.
P.S. I didnt gave best score only because Im saving it for Rome 2 total war. :)
