It's allright, but it's not even close to GTA.

User Rating: 4.8 | Total Overdose: A Gunslinger's Tale in Mexico XBOX
If Eidos wanted Total Overdose to be like Grand Theft Auto, then they really got it wrong. Total Overdose fails in many categories, such as not appealing graphics (especially in the terrible cutscenes), bad voice acting, repetitive music, low replay, and generic gameplay.

Of all the GTA copiers, I can't say this is the worse, but I'm also not saying that it's good. It's average. It one of those games that comes and goes. It lacks substance and it's fun at times but it is brought down by too many flaws. When I looked at ads I thought it looked pretty cool, but when I tried it my opinions changed.

The game takes place as you, a "gringo" is in Mexico and you preform many tasks, most of them are like "go steal that guys car then blow up the place" style of goals why others end up being reallt repetitive and some have no point at all. When you get into a battle with many enemies (which seem like never stop coming.) the soundtrack gets worse as this annoying Mexican-rock style of music starts playing and you'll soon find it repetitive. The voice acting is horrible with some characters and may make you turn your TV on mute.

While the in game graphics aren't bad, in fact they are pretty good, the cutscene graphics are horrible. It seriously looks like a game created on the Nintendo 64. Dreamcast at best. The cutscene graphics are really blocky and just not appealing. You can tell these graphics are in real time. Other games that use real time like Metal Gear Solid 3 and Halo look spectacular in the cutscenes. You can tell that the developer didn't put enough time into the graphics, sound, value, and gameplay period.
