There are set "made up" wrestling promotions in the game when you first download it, however, you can find real world mods that include WWE/TNA at www.ewbattleground.com. 90% of the TEW fans download these mods so they can run today's wrestling companies the way they want to.
TEW includes many different features, too many to name in this review. The basics? You can hire/fire workers, this includes actual wrestlers and behind the scenes staff members. You create TV/PPV shows and book them any way you see fit. You create title belts and put them on whoever you want, create relationships with other wrestling promotions, talk to your own workers/booking team to get advice, create tag teams/stables, create storylines, adjust merchandise levels, maintain financial security, and if you've had enough, resign. The game also includes a relationship system where workers can, over time, create relationships with other workers. Whether its a love, like, friendship, strong dislike, or hate relationship, its all there in TEW05. As head booker of whatever promotion you choose, you must make the correct booking/business decisions to make sure your company continues to grow.
TEW05 has lots of positives, but it isn't perfect, the game has some bugs/glitches that effect gameplay. Not to mention, the signing process for some workers is slightly frustrating. They don't tell you what all their problems are up front, so after they refuse 3 times you have to wait until the next day to continue negotiations. Another problem is you get no notifications when your TV deal is close to expiring. This is annoying because you have to check every month to see how many seasons are left on the deal.
All in all, TEW05 is a phenomenal game for all hardcore wrestling fans, there is a slight learning curve but once you get through that, the game becomes an extremely fun experience that you will enjoy.
