1 Like 2 months ago , as a diablo hardcore fan , i said that I loved Torchlight because remind me ALOT of Diablo 2 with a wow spin off but Torchlight wont make it VS D3....
After a month and 200 hours into D3... I cant wait to see Torchlight 2 and once more . D3 was the biggest letdown ever... Damn , who could predict that Diablo lovers would quit in a month and looking for info in Torchlight 2... Not me for sure.
The only thing i hated about Torchlight, was the cartoony childish feel. Otherwise tho, it should be fun. Especially now that there is an online mode.
@suaron_x if you check the talent calculator , you will clearly see spells that can be much more useful in PvE and some in PvP and some are helpful bothways and I'm sure blizzard aren't that stupid to turn the legendary Diablo franchise into a PvP game , it just doesnt make sense
Looks like a good competitor to Diablo 3, considering it'll be no more than $20 or so. I'll probably be getting this in addition to Diablo 3. Different game, different story...plus it's *only* $20... "looks to easy" the guy's level 1 and is playing on normal difficulty...it should be easy, especially for players new to the game and genre.
Pretty underwhelming game that is completely out-shined by Diablo 3. Played quite a bit of TL1 and have D3 beta. D3 just puts this game to shame. more compelling story, easier to navigate, more of a challenge, more rewarding, better art (imo) and more exciting gameplay/mechanics. The positives are if Diablo is #1 in the genre, this series is probably #2.
This looks great -- I don't like the UI though. A little messy of you ask me: the health and mana orbs are a little small and just thrown off to the side, and I also have a problem with the quest logs. They take up way too much space. But I'm being silly. It is moddable, so I'll just change it.
Loved Diablo 2 & LOD played them both to death and will probably do the same with D3. Played TL on XBLA loved it, completed it, got all the cheevos. They are the same genre but different experiences. Why this need to pit them against each other? If you enjoy dungeon crawlers you'll probably like both. @deathshead023 so your not a fan of dungeon crawlers? Fair enough, go play something else.
Looks good but the pacing makes it look as though it was designed for players who suffer from ADHD. It's a little incongruous with the mood set by the music IMHO. A little slower would have been more polished.
the controls looks like it sucks. too fluid its like moving around like a vehicle with constant speed. no active defense, just braindead button mashing. enemies should be more challenging. this is like mowing down grass. AI should be priority. Quality not quantity of enemies please. i dont mind lots of monsters at the same time just make it a challenge when you play. whats the fun about chopping helpless monsters? I would like to see some monsters that fight smart and run when injured. I think this game is an injury already. Lol to this game.
@deathshead023 Most dungeon crawlers ARE button mashers. If I wanted less enemies that didn't swarm and were smarter, I'd play a different genre altogether, lest my dungeons be barren wastelands filled with a spot few "quality" monsters that in turn might be too difficult to kill because I didn't have weaker monsters to level up on. You're entitled to your complaint, but to me it sounds like you don't like the genre. As someone else said, perhaps you should find another game?
@ThePurpleBubble After reading your nickname I won't even respond. Now THAT made me laugh. Also puppies with armor are sooooo hardcore... PS: Watch the Witcher 2 ad video before the TL2 one and you will see how games for adults are made, and no it doesn't have only shades of grey.
I played several times through Torchlight 1 but probably wont touch this one now that Diablo 3 is coming. The timing is just bad. I actually only picked-up the first series because of Diablo's similarities. Heck, people were even calling it Diablo 2.5 when it came out. Although the graphics and some of the game style is different the main idea is the same: Hack n' Slash, collect gear and lvl up.
I played the first Torchlight 3 times ( once with each character ) and I must say it was a GRRRRRRREAT experience. I was surprised that even though I knew what was coming the 2nd and 3rd time around it was still a decent challenge since the characters had very different strengths and powers. The vast amount of weapons, armor, skills, conjure-able allies and a trusty fighting pet always by your side but occasionally goes to market to bring back money! How can you not love this game? I am getting T2 the day it comes out!
What the hell is all the childish bickering? This and Diablo 3 are 2 different games. How dumb are some of you to not be able to realise that? Ok so maybe there are some similarities, but with them both being the same sort of RPG games what do you expect? If this is a rip off of Diablo then what did that make Torchlight? I personally found very little similarity between Torchlight and D1 and 2. Except for the superficial similarities between the style of gameplay, most features are totally different. Just one example is that while D1 and 2 take themselves quite seriously, a big part of Torchlight is that it is quite light-hearted and doesn't take itself too seriously. So c'mon quit the whining!
I hope they don't try to make it TOO "serious"... The current cartoony design kept the first one appealing all the way through. Compare that to most games, where every last level is "yet another pile of corpses and fire"... I mean, when bodies and lava become boring...
I donīt know, its just like a copy of D3, looks good, seems fun, but i guess you can go full D3 to have more fun, graph look fine, like that kind of cartoon/comics graphics on the games
If you can bring your single player character to online/lan modes than multiplayer will be ruined by modded and duped items, it iwll be a mess. What a lazy attempt at multiplayer, at least they could keep the characters seperate.
@Rafass Because if a game isn't painted only in shades of gray and brown, with the exception of plenty of red for blood, it is kiddie... Amirite? People like you make me laugh.
@fiendling... To be honest (and again this is from press releases) for what i have read i think D3 has more then enough content to be twice as rewarding, D3 gfx, skills customization, upgradeable followers, in game AH ($$$ AH i don't like), atmosphere, polished factor, Co-Op, future arenas, crafting options, 5 classes, etc. Time may prove me wrong, but i think D3 will be a better, more rounded overall experience.
@mdqsurf, at 3 times the price Diablo 3 must at the very least be twice as good as Torchlight II to justify your statements. I, personally, can't see that happening.
stop with all the bickering, D3 and TL2 are on the way let the games themselves decide who is more worthy.
Diablo 2.5 with WoW touch = Torchlight 2. I liked alot Torchlight. If Net play is good ill buy it.
@pllariviere It is a Diablo clone. But you don't have to wait 15 years for them to make it. And they have a great Mod community.
@Suaron_x boy are you going to be disappointed in D3! It's absolutely, without a doubt, designed for party PvE, not PvP. The arena won't even be in the game at launch. Blizzard has said time and time again that they are NOT balancing D3 for PvP.
@suaron_X You cant be more wrong that what you saying... Diablo 3 is PVE game with PVP options that will come after release via patch . They officialy stated that diablo 3 is PVE and they wont focus so much on pvp as much as FULL balance goes. What are you talking about a god knows.
@GaryNeck I know D3 is not a "PvP-only" game. However, D3's classes will be designed to play in PvP first, single-player second. Blizzard wants no class to have an advantage in PvP, so they limit talent tree choice as a way to equalize the various classes. I prefer to have customization, and the more the better. I see D3's classes as rigid/fixed progression classes, completely unlike D2's talent/class system.
I like the amount of crying about mods on d3. I for one like that the game will be less flooded with R-Tards who cheat/hack/dupe etc. Makes it a better experience for the people that earn stuff
Arguments about how this will beat Diablo 3 and/or how this will get killed by Diablo III in 3... 2... 1... I don't see any EULA in each game's websites that firces me to choose only one, so I'll buy both, you people can keep having your arguments meanwhile.
alright lets get this straight. this will NOT beat Diablo 3, just cause you cant afford it doesnt mean you should talk smack over it. Blizzard KNOWS what they're doing.
first to those complaining about UI...the game will be compleatly moddable... those who says it looks like diablo well look who is actualy on the team behind torchlight.... ....the game has LAN...the game has online....the game is MODDABLE...MULTIPLAYER MODDABLE!!!!! and is 20 bucks... the hell with diablo 3... and its online singleplayer and auctionhouse for real cash... GO TORCHLIGHT GO!!!!
@YummyMango - The reason I am hating on Blizzard so much is because I am annoyed they shafted their hard core fans from Diablo II by making this into World of DiabloCraft (Always online, live auction house, no mods). I just have no desire to buy a game I can't mod. That's just me. I have buckets of money so if I really wanted Diablo III, I could get it and run it on my beast of a rig on ultra, but I choose not to cause I really have zero desire to play it. Torchlight II on other hand offers modding tools, non-linear open world (played the Diablo III beta and it is linear as sh*t... also super slow paced combat).
Even that i really dislike Blizz decision of making Diablo 3 an on-line only game for many reasons, i have to say that except for the play-style T2 and D3 have no comparison, and as far as i can see on videos or by reading here and there D3 is vast superior in every way (including the price tag) to T2. Just my 2 cents.
I have already D3 on preorder but since I enjoyed TL 1 I will surely TL 2. This game looks nice. Also I am not sure why gamers start hating on games (game X is better than Y). I mean If you love a genre you should try all good games. Both D3 and this one looks good and kinda diff. D3 is more darkish and TL2 looks more on the casual gameplay side. Cant wait!
@Suaron_x D3's not solely meant for PvP rather than it's just a optional way to play the game and have fun, that's why it's not even included in the launch version.
