It's been awhile since I've played this game and luckily this isn't one of my main characters but there are modders out there who can lvl up your character to 100 so essentially one of my outlanders is ruined as this happened recently. Is there a legit way to bring his level back down? I may have to play this by myself if i can't trust public games.

I've read a lot about not playing public games for that reason. People can ***k wth your character a lot. Try going on the Runic forums and find some honest people to play with.

It's some old thing where you could mod your own gear to give 99999~% extra experience, and the thing about that stat is that it goes for everyone. But the devs fixed that by limiting that to only go as far as double the usual experience or so.

They didn't fix anything because the mod affected my character without my permission. I never wanted to instant lvl my character to 100.

"My permission"? I just told you exactly how it worked, someone else had done it on his character.

No, I'm pretty sure that the +experience issue had been capped like you said. If it happened recently it was probably something else entirely.
I'm still not completely clear on how mods installed by one player affect others in MP so idk if it's intentional or not.

Well I have my character with his old stats back now. Runic Support suggested that I restore the save file of my character to a previous version and it worked. I've also made a backup of all my character files in case something like this happens again, but I will not be playing in any more public games until I know they are safe.

As long as the ability to mod is out there for online it will never be "safe". That's why I just play with a relative who lives about 5 minutes away from me when I play online.
