Just made it to Act 3 (level 38) and all my gear is level 19 or less. I haven't seen any upgrades since the start of Act 2. The reviews said that there was constant upgrades...what should I be doing to get better loot?

Edit: Also I've killed everything and picked up everything and analyzed every piece and yet nothing is better than what I have already.

Funny how that works isn't it. The blue items become basically worthless by act II, and the only things you will want are the orange items... which aren't that great either.

The game gives a lot of loot and it makes you feel great at the start! but the more you play the more... i dunno... I won't say bad it gets because that's not true, but it doesn't feel right. I can't figure it out yet.

I have been using the same weapon for 30 levels now, i WANT to replace it, but I can't find better. (I'm level 80).

People say there is no hope of getting better loot In diablo 3 once you hit inferno, I don't see much of a hope for this game's loot either as there is nothing useful that's blue and oranges aren't randomly generated items. so... yeah :p. I still prefer D3, doesn't mean TL2 isn't fun.

I haven't played Diablo 3, but I can say that in this game the extra points certain pieces of gear give you go a long way. For example: I have a chest piece for a lvl 30 that gives me +26 strength. I am not exchanging that for anything that will cost me that. The exchange better give me more str or less with some added vit or dex. I hope that makes sense.

I dont really understand why this game bothered have green loot, let alone white loot.

White loot serves literally no purpose, and green loot is never ever better than purple loot.

While the D2 loot system wasnt perfect, at least plain old blue magic items could still be useful, even at very high levels.

I feel the same.. In the 70s now and the loot game has become non existent. First 20 levels or so it is real nice but that is it and it stinks.

I don't know what is going on with you guys, but I've been perfectly fine with loot. I have a mixture of blues and oranges, and am constantly coming across different items I can use. Greens are indeed a little useless, BUT, I have come across plenty of Greens with 4 sockets, so you could take that item, throw 4 good gems in it, and then take it to an enchanter and throw a couple enchants on it: bam, you've got a good item. So even greens have potential, but otherwise they serve the purpose of low level gear, I don't see how people expect more. Whites are literally nothing but gold in a different form.

I dunno, I was upgrading my gear each chapter. Particularly from the shops. There are a few sets, large ones usually 7+ pieces, that will show up as blue items in the equipment and rare item shops. thats what I used in the third and fourth acts.

I find upgrading my weapons fairly easy. Just gamble till I find a unique. Armour on the other hand... I'm still using level 49 Dwarfking set at level 88 because the 30% lifesteal is simply too good.

It's sad that I'm using a set I got in my first playthrough when I'm now in my third. :/

Of course the armour is fully socketed with a bunch of attribute enchants which helps. Even if I find a better set and collect it I'll still need to add sockets and enchantments which will take awhile.

But yeah lack of good stuff at high levels it seems.

Loots prety good for me. Act 3 level 32. If I need a upgrade I just keep gambling for it. My only issue is Im a berserker and 9/10 oranges I get are for embermage. Like I'm embermage loot cursed. My shared chest from level 1-32 is full of ember mage uniques. Thats how many I found.

Things you need to do to get good loot:
    Gambling
    Transmuting
    Socketing

Also try to complete a set for items.

    Just let it go, alright.

It is true that Runic dropped the ball when they decided to make uniques vastly superior to pretty much any randomly generated item you can find. This shouldn't be too hard for modders to fix, fortunately.

Gambling is probably the best way to get better equipment. The proportion of uniques to non-uniques is very high.

I just had The Wizard of Gore drop, that is my highlight of getting a good drop. Most of the gear I got was from gambling with small amount from friends and drops.

Gambling makes the game quite easy. My first serious character is a berserker. I got him to 100. I play mapworks with bunch of magic find gear and get decent stuff and gold as I go. I use gold to gamble and I get gear for classes I wanna play in the future. I got my engineer to 80. Sword n Board with The Wizard of Gore that my Berserker got, or the mechano-axe I got as a drop.

I put roughly 500 hours in D3. I had 7 legendary drops, they were ALL ****. I had 2 drop post paragon patch and they still ended up rolling **** (imagine my disappointment when I get lv i63 legendary bracers and they end up complete crap). This game I have about 110 hours and I have a great bulk of incredibly useful stuff for every character, for friends, for myself and for whatever down the line. I had 2 legendary drops and they both were great.

I am fairly satisfied the way loot system works in this game.

    Cruel Mat Bow of Evis

One of the highest demand items in D2 for a long while.

i dont upgrade constantly, but i like the fact that lower level loot stands up to higher level loot.

its not the raw stats, its the specific effects you get on them

my boots only have 9 physical defense but add 20% to my fire damage and increase my cast speed 10%, havent changed em since act 1

in D3, if its not ilvl60+ you probably wont be wearing it passed act 1 inferno

The absolute best loot I've found has been from the gambler.

best loot i have i made!

well i have a rare item with life steal.
    1. socket the thing TWICE!(rare but its there. found the guy twice in my whole new game-end boss trip)
    2. enchant the thing (found the stat enchanter ONCE, but he's there. lower level items get like +4 or +5 stats, higher level i got like plus 10-15 EACH! so 3 enchants that's up to at least 30 stats. random tho. but i did get 20str 10vit, not bad. another has like 30 dex)

there is allegedly a grandmaster enchanter, who give 4 enchants, so after 3 stat enchants, enchant it again for random stuff. +dmg or whatever.

now don't get me wrong, as the legendaries are effin awesome, but goodluck getting em. now rares or uniques, then enchant/socket, well i do believe we can do some dmg eh.

rares are everywhere(haha rare my ass), uniques, well bosses give em and gambling is good.

green and white is just cash for enchanting. and you'll need money, as lvl3 enchant is like 13-15K with the items i have (40-ish or higher, lower than 50) but its so effin sweet. specially since ya made the weapon.

i dunno how much enchanting/socketing a legendary would cost tho.

I found a legendary cannon today. Before that I found a legendary 2-hander. Not exactly useful for my speed-based Berserker.

So not only are they rare, you also have to factor in the odds of getting the type of legendary that you want or is useful.

On the plus side I collected most of the Dragonrift armour set. Just need to get it socketed and enchanted.
