The game that started a downward spiral for the Tony Hawk Series

- "Disappointing"
Coming off of Tony Hawk's American Wasteland on the GameCube, I was hoping that neversoft would manage to continue to elevate the series as they had done with the underground series. I was wrong. Not only is the Wii version the most gimmicky of them all, but the overall worst as well.
Graphics: looks like it was recycled from the gamecube era. It might not have been a bad thing if it wasn't so obvious, but I actually liked the way American Wasteland looked more than this. The cutscenes aren't very nice either.
Music: Meh. nothing special. Only track that really stands out for me is Baddest of the Bad by Reverend Horton Heat. I gotta give respect for using that.
Sound: about as flat as American Wasteland.
Gameplay: ugh. The game controls like crap. You have to use the wiimote + nunchuk to control the board, no alternatives. Really, neversoft? No classic controller support, or even gc controller support?! Anyways, the worst part of the control comes when you try to do the "create a flip trick"-ish thing by flicking the wiimote. The problem with this is that it's nearly impossible to land. Really, big, big mistake.
Overall: Don't get this game. Get the tony hawk games for the gamecube, they control better, have better music, and look the same. This one just fails.

The only thing Tony Hawk proves here is this game should have never been published to the Wii.

It's one of those games where, for every good side, there's a bad side with it.

"Hooplas" is a skateboarding video that I filmed and edited for my senior project in highschool this year. It features me (Dylan) and my friend (Max) skating at my highschool, various skateparks, and other random places.Posted Jun 26, 2006
