This is when Tony Hawk games started to get great. This game brought the new gameplay to Tony Hawk games.

Before this (THPS1-THPS3), the games were good, but not great. I think that they have got better each time (before THUG2) and this was one of the best. For the first time in the Tony Hawk series, you do individual missions, compared to the time limit from the previous games. This game also featured great level design, such as college and Alcatraz.

This game had great missions as well, such as Bam Margera's shopping cart mission in Alcatraz. I suggest buying this game because it's fun, interesting, and it's a few years old, so it's pretty cheap.

OTHER GAMES:
As I said, these games just keep getting better and better. After this is THUG, where you can get off your board and drive vehicles for the first time. THUG2 was not as good as THUG, but it was still okay, and the Tony Hawk series' newest installment, Tony Hawk's American Wasteland was really great, and brought free-roaming gameplay to the series
