THPS 4; Frustrating yet Fun?

User Rating: 7.5 | Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 PS
::Intro::
Well, Like the old ones, if you have played them, its the same except for a few modifications that made it better.

::Challenge::
Challenge? Oh you got it! I recommend playing the older THPS games first because the challenges here are extremely hard! can you obtain 100,000 points in one combo? if so, you're up to the challenge

::Control::
Control is pretty great, no lag and such. I say it depends on the skateboard you got for the control...but to me it has little to no difference, the control is still great

::Game Variety::
Theres hundreds of combos you can perform, hundreds of places you can grind, hundreds of gap bonuses (places where if you hop over/grind over/perform a specific trick on gives you points)...what more could I say? (even the point system prevents players from being repetetive: The point value of a trick decreases as it is repetetively performed)

::Music::
There are some that are really good and some that are boring, but i guess it depends on your taste of music. When it gets repetetive, just shut it off and play your own music from a CD player or somethin. You get 9 tracks at first but as you complete the levels, you may get new tracks that add up to the variety of the music

::Sound Effects::
Nothing new, still the same sound effets but it will suffice for a great game.

::Graphics::
Nothing special, frankly it looks like the water in the ocean in one of the levels is cardboard

::Realism::
Well like any game, it cant be totally realistic. But the way the skater bails is an improvement from the older THPS games. I think it also depends on the weight of the skater on the way he bails.

::Ability to be Customized::
Well, you have create-a-skater and create-a-park modes. Create a skater is kind of short ended on the variety of looks you can give a skater (I cant make my own look...you cant have a spiked brown hair). The create-a-park on the other hand, is great: You can make the usual stuff on a park plus Gap bonuses editing)

::Rewards::
Well, your rewards are short skating videos, new levels, stat points for your created skaters, new tricks learned for your created skaters, decks (skateboards), and cheats as well. Pretty rewarding but I still think its a little bit not worth the challenge you will face to obtain them

::Total::
Frustrating yet still fun! Definitely a must buy (except for those who cuss and break everything when he cant figure how to jump in mario bros.)If you rent it, you will feel cut off from the fun the day of return
