Okay game for quick sit downs for about an hour at a single time at the most.

User Rating: 7.5 | Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (Platinum) PS2
This is an okay game. Not worth the ten given by Gamespot. That is all I will say for right now... let's begin.

First off the game is basically what you have come to expect from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games. You have two minutes to complete objectives in a given amount of space on your skateboard doing outrageous tricks that TOTALLY defy the laws of physics, gravity, and impact tolerance on the body. You play as many different skaters including the ever-so-famous Tony Hawk. Also you can customize your own character. This is most likely what you are going to enjoy doing because the customization options are pretty sweet especially when it comes to logos and little things like that.

The menu is a good menu for the game. You are in a skate shop with different options such as quick play, story mode, park editor, and options. The quick play is just what you would think a quick play option is. You play a single level and try to beat the highest score you already have. This is a good, simple mode that is used often but never gets too old. The story mode is the mode you go in when you want to unlock more levels, board types, and skills. You unlock levels by beating the level before that and then unlocking it for use in story mode and in the other modes such as quick play. The park editor is a mode where you can design and then skate your own park that you can make and create yourself. This is fun to do when you get bored with just skating. It is also a little better than the other park editors used in previous games because you have a little more freedom over where you place the items and what you have to place. One other mode that I forgot to mention would be the Free Skate Mode. This is my favorite mode to be in because you can choose different 'Mini Modes' to play while in the Free Play mode. These 'Mini Modes' include Horse, King of the Hill, and Slaps.

The gameplay in the game is the same as all other Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games before this. I explained the gameplay in the review during the game modes and menu options and stuff.

The graphics in the game are very nice. They stay good (especially for an earlier game in the PS2 era) and maintain a solid frame rate. The sound in the game is mediocre. All of the falls sound the same, all of the talking sounds the same, the dialogue is cheesy, and the music is just not varied enough. All of the songs (with the exception of a few... literally) are heavy rock - heavy metal songs with a bunch of cussing that you would rather not have your mom walk in on and hear you listening to (if your mom is like my mom). The value of the game is fair. You can play it but the skating aspect of the game wear's off fast and you will likely find yourself going to the Park Editor sooner than you would have thought or hoped.

The reviewer's tilt is okay. I think the game is good for a while but bores quickly.

Overall score for this game that I give it is a...

7.5 out of 10.

Although this game is good and all it just doesn't hold out as long as you would like. However, you will every now and then find the urge to go back and play it a little. But even then, this urge only lasts about thirty minutes and then it is back to the shelf for a month or two before you ever feel the urge again.
