THAW Is COOL

User Rating: 8.4 | Tony Hawk's American Wasteland XBOX
Back when THPS4 came out, Game Informer did a list of games they didn't want to see made, and on that list was THPS5. Activision must've taken it to heart because they created the THUG branch off. Rather than come out with THUG3 and incite more sequel jokes, they put a different two letters on the end to make THAW.
Basically THAW is THUG. It expands on ideas laid out in the Underground games while throwing in some Pro Skater references. Not only references, but what you could call a THPS game by itself, labeled as Classic Mode. I divide my time equally between both modes. Sometimes I feel like just roaming around, and other times like collecting S-K-A-T-E. It really is cool how both modes are implimented.
Graphically, it is a step up in this department, although my perceptin may be tainted by the fact that the last Tony Hawk game I played was THUG on Gamecube. The city streets are filled with pedestrians and bums, who surprisingly have money to give you for perfoming tricks on demand, instead of the other way around.
If you've played any Tony Hawk game on any system, you will immediately be familiar with the controls. Contrary to what people say, I have no problems with the Xbox controller.
All in all, I'd recommend this game to anyone who's ever played a Tony Hawk game.
