Not the best TR but still better than Legend.

This game was a fun play but it was missing the spirit of the Tomb Raider series. For example we have the crew who's stories are written like a bad fanfiction. You have to read a 40 page book if you want know more and it is absolutely dreadful and uninspiring! Lara is more human but her character was strong before the game starts and she knows just what to do and how to do it. That pretty much defeats the origin idea altogether. The graphics aren't much to gawk at either; making the scenerey muddy and crude, something Uncharted reigns supreme even now. But CD did study Uncharted and studied well, you can tell by the action scenes. Something about them made it feel wrong though, like I was playing a knock off. I mean the scenes were cool but Crystal Dynamics don't know how to vary them. SCENE: Things fall apart around you and slide...WEEEEEEEEEeeee!! Or... slide and vice versa weeeeee... Or just slide ..........weee? Not so much. The game also has some cool QTEs and the collectible artifacts that are worth looking for. Some are well hidden and some are found just by opening a door. The tombs are also too small to be tombs but the puzzles do make you think. As a huge fan of Tomb Raider since the 90's; I deem it worthy of the name but only for the sake of the future games. If you love Tomb Raider , you might find the puzzles insulting but at most points in the big areas you'll feel a great sense of overwhelmingly big aventure. And that sense is bigger than any Crystal Dynamics game so far. Is it a great game? Yes. Is it as good as Uncharted in terms of action? No. I love Tomb Raider but Naughty Dogs has a set of better imaginations. They know the action dance better and how to vary and not to mention how to work a duck and cover system. Tomb Raider is not worth 65 bucks but it's woth having nonetheless. You'll like controlling Lara and see her touch the environment like Drake does. I'm gonna miss the old Lara but a young Uncharted Lara is better than no Lara, right? Let's just hope this saga lasts more than 3 games.
