The most underated Tomb Raider game to date.

User Rating: 8.7 | Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation (CapKore) PS
Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation follows the further adventure's of the legendary Lara Croft as she attempts to put an Egyptian God to rest. The story starts off with a young Lara and her mentor, Werner Von Croy, in Cambodia as they search for the Iris. When they attempt to retrieve the Iris something goes wrong and Lara is forced to leave Von Croy behind. Cut to about 20 years later (Present day) and Lara is searching for the Ankh. Upon finding she unleashes an evil far greater than she can imagine. Can she put this evil to rest before it's to late? *GAMEPLAY - 9
The gameplay while a bit outdated, still manages to impress. New features such as rope climbing, combining items, a compass, and the ability to shimmy around corners are integrated into the gameplay perfectly. Well, almost perfectly. The rope climbing parts of the game don't really come off too well, especially to newcomers. There fine once you get used to them, but hard to get used to before hand. Everything else blends in with the game perfectly though, like shimming around corners. Another part of the game that adds a little variety to the game, are the vehicles. Two to be exact. The controls are responsive and confortable in the grip of any Tomb Raider veteran. Beginners shouldn't play this one first, because of the and the difficulty. This has to be the hardest one in the series next to Tomb Raider 3, which is a good thing. The only real problem is that this game runs on the same engine as the first Tomb Raider(with minor tweaks) and is showing it's age, but if it's not broken, don't fix it. *GRAPHICS - 10
This game has some of the best graphics seen on a Playstation to date. From the beautiful level design to the advanced lighting effects, this game has it all in the graphics department. The entire game takes place in Egypt(except for the beginning) and the graphics make you feel like your there. The levels are massive and boast the best lighting effects on the Playstation. While the level design isn't as revolutionary as the first Tomb Raider, it's still damn good. What amazes me is how detailed CORE got with the little things. For example, when Lara's waist deep in water the end of her ponytail floats in the water, why did CORE do this? Would anyone have noticed? Who knows, but it payed off in the long run

*SOUND - 10
This game also has some of the best sound quality out there. The music is great, the sound effects are varied, which overall leads to a quality feel. On particular thing that I noticed, is when an enemy shoots at you in a big open area you can actually hear the sound of the gun echo come off the walls. The soundtrack fits the game very well and adds to the mood of the game

*VALUE - 9
You better bring a lunch with you, because this one's gonna take all day. The Last Revelation is the longest game in the series,18 hours the first time I played it, 15 the second time. Besides the story mode this game is bare bones. A staple in the series is the secrets. This game has 70 in all and will take you a few hours to find them all. To me, this is the first Tomb Raider game with an "actual" ending, it left me wanting more story-wise.

*TILT - 7
This game isn't that original, but it handles it very well with a nice presentation. Even though Tomb Raider re-invented the third person action adventure genre it show's its age in this game.

*OVERALL - 8.7
This has to be one of the best Tomb Raiders in the series. After 7 years this game is still very enjoyable and should be in every adventure fan's collection.
