A lot of fun even if a bit short.

Both Tomb Raider and Lara Croft need no introduction so here goes. I list this game as "surprisingly good" because if you played the last few entries... well then you know why. First and foremost don't be afraid to pick this up because it's a lot of fun.

This time around Lara goes back to the tombs! Visually this game is pretty great. I know that on PC and XBox 360 it would look better but PS2 fans fear not because everything is in tact here. Great level designs and interesting models made the game appealing. There are occasional framedrops but they are far from overwhelming.

Controlling Lara is everything you would hope for. The controls are very natural. You won't find yourself struggling to do what you want. You can roll and do various flips. The targeting system is straightforward. Ledge jumping and climbing is also fairly simple. The only spot where this suffers is where you just can't find the proper camera angle. More often than not you'll feel right at home.

Not much to say in the sound department. Nothing is wrong with the sound, the voice acting is fine. You even have subtitles. The music gets a little old but it's nothing really to complain about.

As for the story Lara is digging into her past. Without giving anything away, basically you deal with the myth and reality of King Arthur. It's a lot of fun and getting to the end makes it worth it.

While you're playing the game you can find rewards scattered throughout the levels too. There are three levels: bronze, silver, and gold. These all add up to unlock the extras in the game. To be honest though, none of them are that exciting. An extra tomb would have done the game well here. Most of the fun in these extras is just exploring the levels with a little more detail.

So Tomb Raider: Legend, lots of fun. It's fairly quick and not very difficult but for PS2 fans who have to wait another couple of months for some great releases, check it out.
