This remake of the original is worth playing for both veterans and newcomers.

User Rating: 7.5 | Tomb Raider: Anniversary (Platinum) PS2
Positive
- Great Lara moves
- Good looking environments
- Graphically good for a PS2
- It's a remake of the original

Negative
- Few battles
- Camera can be problematic
- Some jumps can be infuriating

Those who played the original Tomb Raider should feel this familiar since it's the remake of a game released more than a decade ago. On it's own Tomb Raider keeps the same problems as before with just a few improvements but it's still a fun, modern action game.

I was new to the series, and didn't know if it was a remake or not, but lets say as Tomb Raider Anniversary only. Lara Croft the main character seeks treasure and things like that, which throughout the game will take you to various locations. Lara can perform great acrobatic moves without any effort and these are great to watch in action. With these Lara can dodge enemy attack and sometimes even traps. She has guns as weapon but she rarely gets to use them since enemies which are animals rarely attack. When that happens the music is turned on. When it comes to combat you can lock-on to the enemy, but the camera can cause some trouble. And due to color of the environment, it's not impossible to lose sight of your enemy.

Most of the time you'll be jumping from platform to platform by hanging and moving. Some of jumping sequences can be irritating since you have to be exact in some cases. So some people might have to repeat the same part multiple times before getting it right. For a PS2 game, Anniversary looks great. Lara's model looks the best, though the environments are varied and same as good, and are big.

The game consists of solving puzzles you find in your way. Tomb Raider keeps the traditional of finding a key to open the door or pressing a switch and stuff like that. Almost all times the switches or keys are somewhere high which you have to jump from one side to another.

Tomb Raider Anniversary is a great game despite being a remake of the original released on the Playstation many years ago. Thanks to some minor improvements, this series feels better than it was, thanks to some new style. If you're never played a Tomb Raider game before and you're looking for some fun and fresh, this isn't a bad chose.

Graphics = 8.2
Lara looks great in this one, and the environments are big, varied and look great.

Sound = 7.1
You'll hear more the sound effects than anything else; music only appears when enemy approaches. Guns shot are the most common at least they sound as they should. Little in the way of music.

Presentation = 7.8
It's a remake of game released 13 years ago or so. Obviously it's much better. Cutscenes are good. But nothing stands out more than other in the presentation.

Gameplay = 8.2
Lara's moves greatly and freely. There are some annoying jumping sections, and you rarely encounter enemies.

Camera = 7.3
The camera can be moved around, but it's too close at times. The controls are responsive.

Difficulty = Medium
Starts out pretty easy with enemies not giving trouble. As you move on the difficulty starts ramping up little by little. Platforming sections are not for everyone.

FINAL SCORE = 7.7 / 10
It's worth it for veterans to replay this game all over again, with improved technology. And it's a welcome to newcomers as well.
