High Hopes, Poor Sequel to a Great Game

I didn't think twice buying this game. As soon as I saw that there was a sequel to the all-too-short original, I jumped at grabbing this game. As I turned it on today, I noticed my last load was from November of 2009, it's January 2011. In that time, I couldn't force myself to play this game, and force is the right verb.

The idea was nice, and the original game was great. I didn't finish this game, so I should say that from the beginning, but I couldn't get through the clunky game play.

Perhaps I'm spoiled with all the games that take advantage of the current technology, but a game that you can't move the camera in is mind-numbing. I'm sure I'm not the only gamer out there that likes to survey the land, and in this game you can't do it. One thing I loved about the original game was the dialogue being in Japanese, an homage to the roots of the game. In the most inauthentic move I've seen in some time, all the characters speak perfect English, in feudal Japan, and they have British accents. What the deuce is that about? It is dreadful to listen too.

If that weren't disgusting enough, the game play, set at regular difficulty isn't intuitive at all, and hours of game play and I still had trouble with it.

What made the original so great was the unique game play and the combination attacks, in this game, it turns into a button mashing game, with glances of timed mashing. It isn't worth the time, though I got it for $10, so the price was right. A disappointing sequel to a great original game.
