Review For Tomb Raider Anniversary

The graphics are good - but the nostaligia element is actually frustrating - because despite the advanced technology available the stages between the levels were far superior in the original games.

This one has some major glitches - particularly at the 'Boss' levels

Frankly - they are shoddily designed both from a playability perspective as well as the format.

I only managed to kill the dinosaur on level one because of a glitch that froze the beast making me simply stay in my spot and empty catridges into it. If I had tried to kill it the way it is designed - i.e. building up the rage and luring it into spikes positioned at the edge of the forum - I would have given up and thrown away the game in anger because of how awkward and time consuming it was.

On the next level the 'bosses' are 2 Centaurs that do not have any life erosion - no matter how much you shoot them!

And the amazingly obtuse way to try to kill them involves getting them to this bloddy awful 'rage' level and then hooking their small shileds off them to use as a deflector. Too awkward to do and, as if that is not maddening enough - the glitches reappear where the shields dont come off when you grapple them and often they freeze - for no reason but don't die when you shoot them.

Having spent many hours of frustrated gaming - I have given up and I curse the incompetent designers and technicians who have squandered an amazing opportunity from this fabulous franchise.

The original production team at Eidos created a major iconic game which was near perfect.

This particular group have ruined it

An original Hitchcock movie will always make any 'reimagined' or updated version show up to be so inferior
