Splinter Cell is Dead

User Rating: 7 | Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction (Collector's Edition) X360
First off let me state that I am reviewing this game as a Splinter Cell title not a new game.

Ubi Soft has destroyed this franchise and should rename it. They have shamed everything that was Splinter Cell.

All the things that made both the single player and co op of Chaos Theory are gone or striped to blandness. They took a stealth action game and made it an action game with a hint of stealth. Almost nothing of the first three games remains other than names. Tying this story into the 1st three seems contrived. Especially the addtion of an Iraq war sequence.

That being said the game should be called Army of One for an easy reference to its game play. While the game looks slick the over all mechanics from cover too reloading are not very intuitive. The online Co op has multiple points where players get "stuck" and cause you to reset the rounds. Co op is so NOT like Chaos Theory and all to much like Army of Two.

Now I don't want you to think the game is a complete waste. I compare it to Army of Two but in that respect the game is better than the afore mentioned title. It is somewhat engaging once you master the clunky controls and is a better online coop experience than AOT. Its a rental at best however. If you are huge fan of the first three and even enjoyed the last 360 title, you will be hugely disappointed if you expect any resemblance to those titles. Access to the Ghost Recon Beta is it only saving grace.
