This gives me chills to watch. They're finally bringing back the original online that they introduced with Pandora Tomorrow, but with a modernized and upgraded twist. I hope they bring back some of the popular maps just for old times sake. Deftech Belew, Mount Hospital, Vertigo Plaza...ah hell, bring 'em all back with whatever new maps they wanna bring too.

Chaos Theory was the sexiest friggen multiplayer gameplay they ever produced for the splinter cell series. They could honestly copy that online multiplayer EXACTLY, tweak up the graphics to 360 days and I'd spend my 63.73 to buy this, midnight release. This is just another double agent except with the 4v4, even then I remember back in the CT days I'd just glitch the lobby to get the 4v4 I wanted. They need to get off the COD stats just like every other game and keep the series the way SPLINTER CELL started off as before COD became this whole hype when MW1 came out, enough with trying to get the COD players interests game producers! You're making every other game terrible! Look what happened to the gears series because of you COD lovers, 2/3 of the people that purchased judgement have now quit GoW completely or went back to GoW 3. Ubisoft, for the love of god, make splinter cell multiplayer the way it used to be back in Chaos Theory days, everyone who has played the Splinter Cell series from the start would all agree with me. This 4v4 is a great idea, just dont make it so spies are not facing mercs head on just like double agent, and I swear if mercs really get this passive ability to auto detect when a spie is in the area just like double agent, Ima ragequit and you definitely lost me as a buyer. That being my essay, in conclusion Ubisoft, make this multiplayer back to Chaos Theory days, I dont feel like waiting for another year and a half for the same hope of this coming true IF there's even another Splinter Cell.

mp looks familiar...oh yeah been there done that.  And the SP is the same shitty formula as the last one.  How disheartening.  Was such a great series until the last one came out and ruined it all.  More garbage with a sixty dollar price tag.

@blkgto How can you treat the MP with a "been there, done that" attitude? Obviously, we all have, but the original MP scheme from PT and CT was the best. It was the most unique and when it first came out, it was extremely innovative to boot. It was unlike anything else at the time. You actually had to develop a level of skill in order to be successful in the game, otherwise you would get stomped on by those who did. There wasn't much room for luck.

This style of MP is still extremely unique even in the current marketplace.

double agent wasn't all that great either, chaos theory was the peak

I originally had no interest in this game until now. I have fond memories playing Spy vs Mercs in Pandora Tomorrow. Glad to see it back and can't wait for the game.

that first person melee execution in the gameplay footage (assuming on merc side) was badass! i think this will probably be the best spies vs mercs yet

MERCS ?...first and fore most i am not a fan of multiplayer hence my lack of interest but what really get me is FPS !!!!!. may it was designed like this so the MERCS will have a higher advantage in confrontation or they made it like this to increase variety in game-play which is good but i just can't shake the feeling that this is  just a ploy to appeal to COD fans (no offences to COD fans) .i am looking forward to this game and from the videos BLACKLIST hit a lot of the right notes but this isn't one of them.

@daviz88 As others have said, this isn't a ploy to appeal to COD fans. This was around since Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, the second game in the series. Chaos Theory kept it going and then Double Agent split the consoles. 360 got the Spy vs. Merc game mode while PS2 and X-box got some watered down Spy vs. Spy mode. Since then, it was never quite the same.

The different perspectives are to help compliment the gameplay style of each team. Quick and agile spies need 3rd person to be more aware of their surroundings as they sneak.

I see similar elements to the popular FPS outline. I noticed the mercs could ADS which was not available in the older games. These things I'm sure will add to the experience. But I can almost guarantee that playing as Merc will not remotely feel the way playing Battlefield or COD feels. And playing as a Spy...well, that's just a whole 'nother bag of fun all together.

wow...........can't argue with that, hence i rest my case.

@daviz88 obviously you were born after chaos theory. this game mode was the crown jewel of xbox live.

oh really? well to be honest i never played any of the SPLINTER CELL, i never owned an Xbox so i don't really have much right to judge.but before you go all fan-boy on me the reason i didn't like the FPS addition was, apart from the number of FPS flooding this generation i just thought that adding an FPS element to a 3rd person game might somewhat slow the pacing but i have never played CHAOS THEORY so i can't know for sure.

Like the others said, the Spies vs Mercs mode was the best thing to happen to the Splinter Cell series, back in the days of the masterpiece that was Chaos Theory. Seeing this return to the franchise might incite me to buy this game, because what I had previously seen of Black List was...well it was a lot of things, but it wasn't Chaos Theory.

@daviz88 It was also in double agent this has been done before and it does work well, I wish I got hold of double agent before the hype of it online faded as this was when I decided to play multiplayer but the games i did play were a blast and that was from both a merc POV and a spy POV

@daviz88 acual FPS gives the spies an advantage. the mercs are limited to a 60 degree FOV while the spies have a much higher one, also they are able to peek around cover and such in a way the mercs cant. this gives the spies the ability to better sneak around the mercs to make up for their lack of firepower.
