Too much killing. I like the tagging and killing system, but it should be used a lot less. Splinter Cell should be a stealth game and not a Rambo simulator.

I'm developing a game wherein you terrorize the american public for unclear politcal favor. who's pre-ordering?

i am absolutely tired of shooting at russians and middle easteners and asians.....dead tired. I want there to be a game where i can bend the american president over and duck his head into a toilet full of poo-crust laid by the impoverished 3rd worlders he railed against.

@NINEINCH-Tool "Get your troops out of our countries" Sounds like a reasonable request to me. They won't though because there are many resources to pillage.

@Sanguis_Malus @NINEINCH-Tool yeah, it is a reasonable request. As soon as the torture scene came in I thought...."wow, is this really entertainment?" . It's like "America the honorable, does the world a favor by killing all the 3 legged dogs"

Those goggles wont stay green for long if he keeps this killing spree going.

Does anyone remember stealth games?

I do miss Michael Ironside as the voice of Sam Fisher.

Nice demo: a lot more fast-paced than before.

Stealth  is dead in Splinter cell, It's look very cool, but it also stupid?all you need to do just hiding and shoot?this is a  TPS,nothing more

k0k066
k0k066

@Walkindark you are wrong spec ops the line is a TPS Max Payne is a TPS this one is all about tactics who t pick first end then how to move and the gameplay we saw is done by pro if you get this game I doubt you will be this good from the beggining unless you've been playin' conviction

not to get all political and such but is it wrong that I actually agree with the idea of a 'blacklist'?

America needs to quit getting involved with other countries problems. you wanna have civil unrest and blow each other up? go ahead, we've got our own problems to deal with.

@still_thinking i'd basically said the same thing ( admittedly in a thick and silly way) and some global censor removed my post.

I'm confused, I am all for the stealth/action pace but WTH is going on with the story. Is this a sequel to conviction or prequel. If its a sequel and I believe it is why the hell are they all younger than in conviction, why didn't they atleast have a new character with Sam as his mentor or something. I know people are pissed about the change in gameplay from older SC but this has even me having doubts and i'm still playing conviction from time to time.

@bignick217  your an idiot. the game is clearly set in a way you could do the entire thing in old style stealth, or just go all out fighting. as for it being set in the middle east, it is a game, like many, set in modern times, therfore it is most likely that things like this would happen in the middle east and areas like that. what did you expect? a splinter cell game about terrorists set in alaska?

Frosty3223
Frosty3223

@argurios87 Actually Tom Clancy has always picked on the Soviet Union (Old Russia) so im rather bemused that its finally the middle east

bignick217
bignick217 like.author.displayName like.author.displayName 2 Like

@argurios87 No.. I expected a game with an original plot.  Not the same plot that's already been done 50 times over in every other combat game in the last 3 years.  So what, now that it's Splinter Cell that's taking place in the middle east (just like every other game), I'm supposed to care now.  No...I don't.  If I want some originality in my game I have every right to voice my opinion.   And no, that wasn't careful stealth or run and gun (take your pick).  It was all, pick your targets and one button push everything.  No skill.  No forethought.  No planning.  Just ooooh, new enemies... mark, mark, mark... run... push button, push button, push button.

"the game is clearly set in a way you could do the entire thing in old style stealth, or just go all out fighting"

And just how would you know that at this point.  I have good reason to think this might just be another crap conviction.  In conviction they made the same promises.  But what happened.  You got little pockets of stealth and the rest of every level was always some guy on an intercom yelling at you claiming he knew where you were.  There was no "espionage".  There was no way to complete a level with the perfect execution.  Get in, do your job properly and you can complete it without anyone ever knowing you were even there.  There was none of that in conviction.  I might like a little of what conviction threw into the mix in their levels in a level here and a level there.  But not on every level.  Every 10 minutes.  It was obscene.  That's my opinion.  And it is a valid one.

If that doesn't look good to me and I join a discussion (and make no mistake, this is where that very discussion takes place) about that very topic, then I have a right to my own opinion.  That doesn't make me an idiot, it just means I have a differing point of view from yours.  That fact that you started your comment to me with "your an idiot" makes you look more the fool than me, because you've resorted to name calling first instead of having an intelligent discussion about your differing perspective.  Think about that before you pop off at the mouth again (keyboard warrior style) and try to have a go at me.

I said it in Conviction and I'll say it again here.  Where the hell did the stealth gameplay go.  Secondly, can we please get the hell away from this middle east crap.  It's gotten old fast.  Why does every combat game take place in the middle east lately.  You have a whole world to create stories about.  I know you think it's relevant to todays issues, but seriously, get some creativity and come up with something new.  I'm going back to Chaos Theory.  That was the last "True" Splinter Cell.

@bignick217 Exactly my feelings since Conviction. I must admit this looks impressive, but it also threw away a lot of the Splinter Cell elements - that's why I'd prefer they call it something else. SC used to be about being extremely stealthy & cautious of every move, using the gun only when you absolutely have to because of the scarce ammo which totally made sense. Now, you have freaking unlimited ammo, run & gun, pin-point accuracy, and automatic head shots... Not Splinter Cell!

aetius_
aetius_

@Shengy89 I liked the Conviction and it's lack of stealth because it felt it's a part of a SC story. From now on, it should be more stealth than shooting around.

@Matt_Wetner Seriously guys. Its a stage demo (at Microsoft). Their going to play it a way that is action packed and what not. However if you actually paid attention you'll see that the level design gives plenty of room for stealth.

You want to tone down the stealth? Fine. I can live with that The combos/action are cool. But you better come out and tell us that is a placeholder voice actor and that Michael Ironside will be Sam.

There better be few rails and corridors. There better be co-op.

There better be a nearly infinite number of options, approaches, and tools to use. There better be real darkness.

Been playing the first splinter cell since it came out and one of my favorite series died when conviction came out. I didn't think they'd pull this again and make an even more action-oriented piece of mainstream trash, but that wasn't enough, they had to replace Ironside too.

Sanguis_Malus

@ryancyc I recently played through Ghost Recon FS, there Is a solo mission quite late Into the game which requires stealth. It made me yearn for the Splinter Cell of old. Unless SC returns to Its roots then I'm out.
