A Good, Dark Story-line With Smooth Online Co-Op Missions To Play, Earning Cash For Purchases - Hours of Gameplay

User Rating: 8 | Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist X360
Splinter Cell: Blacklist caught me off-guard this year, I knew it was coming but since the previous installments of the series, I wasn't too interested in Blacklist. But I gave it a try, when I found it for cheaper than it's regular price upon it's release - the box art, and story-line appealed to me. The first mission of the game's main plot was quite interesting, and got me back into the mechanics from the previous games. However upon getting passed the main opening of the game, you are led towards other missions, you can complete for experience, in-game currency and this is where some of the best action stems from.

These are Co-Op missions, where you and another player online can complete a set of objectives, and upon completion you earn in-game currency to upgrade your weapons, equipment and character - like more modern online First-Person Shooters such as Call of Duty utilize. However you can also earn the in-game currency through the main campaign of the game, and completing challenges so you are not forced to play the Co-Op missions.

But for me personally, these Co-Op missions change the formula of past Splinter Cell games, and adds the incentive to play them, complete challenges to earn in-game cash.

Graphically Blacklist looks amazing, especially after installing the HD Textures disc that comes as the second disc with the Xbox 360 release of the game, once it is installed the game looks beautiful especially during firefights, and when sneaking around in darkness.

Customization plays a big part in Blacklist, in Co-Op missions, the main campaign and online Spies vs Mercs mode. From all three of these modes, as well as general challenges you can complete in any of them, you earn in-game cash to buy new weapons, attachments, equipment, gadgets, and outfits that increase your stealth or armor. This pushes you to complete challenges, or the hard Co-Op missions for the hard-earned cash you get from them, and buy that much-needed upgrade for your Pistol, or your Goggles.

The Good:

- Great graphics, that look amazing during firefights, or when sneaking around in the darkness.
- A good, strong Politically charged plot and story-line.
- Customization of weapons, kit, equipment is very in-depth and can make you think about your choices, and how they'll impact future missions.
- Good soundtrack.
- Co-Op missions are the backbone of Blacklist, and can be replayed to change your overall score, or earn more cash.

The Bad:

- Long loading times, particularly during Co-Op missions.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist takes elements of Conviction, and some from Double Agent and put them together, and gives you a strong, action-led stealth adventure. For fans of the franchise this is a definite purchase, be it when it's cheaper or now soon after it's release, it's worth the price at lease for the Co-Op missions you can undertake.
