Poor...Total Letdown Ubisoft...what happened?
To start off with the visuals of the game, overall they look pretty nice, good environments, halfway decent looking characters (only friendly ones) and the textures are somewhat nice...but the enemies almost look like 2D clipart cutout images...and there aren't any realistic shadows in the levels. But worst of all, the animations are just horrible..there's no other way to really put it. I guess UBI must have pulled off some 12-year old wannabe animator off the street and forced them to work with 3dsmax at gunpoint...they could definitely improve on this field.
Next comes the gameplay and sound...definitely not anything impressive. I have seen games put together in 3 months that outbeat this. The controls aren't customizable at all (only the analog sticks are changeable) and you can barely aim to save your life. 2 shots on freakin' recruit mode and you're out...what I don't really understand is that the enemy AI is so odd. You can stand behind them for 5 seconds and they won't do anything, and they turn around very slowly, it's as though they're autistic, but after quickly killing your comrade, the same guy can take you out from 300 yards away without aiming at all in about 2 seconds...you AI programmers should have worked on that. The sound overall is nice, that's probably the best thing in the game besides the CG sequences (which are nicely done ironically). The weapon sounds didn't sound that great though.
Ok I may have been a little harsh on this review, but Ubi did this to themselves (or should I say RedStorm). I feel this needs to get out to the gaming public though, they need to know the truth..and every opinion matters.
The game sucks...if you have a 360 then I might recommend this title but for you PS2 fanatics like me...stay away...stay FAR away..that about wraps it up! Go and rent the game if you don't believe me, don't spend $50 or £30 because you're probably gonna regret it...
