While certainly not the best game bearing the Tom Clancy name it ain't the worst either.

User Rating: 7.5 | Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 PS3
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 or G.R.A.W. for short is Tactical squad based shooter in which players take on the role of Captain Michel who is a member of an elite squad simply known as The Ghosts. The story takes place in Mexico which is quickly become destabilized because of a joint security act which is supposed to help deal with border security between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. Unfortunately certain elements oppose this and as a result things quickly go from bad to worse over the course of the single player campaign.

G.R.A.W.'s graphics are fairly decent considering how old the game is but aren't top notch. The graphics sadly look fairly typical of PS2 games to some extent but aren't that noticeable or as bad when compared to multiplayer. In multiplayer the graphics look way worse than they do in single player. In general surfaces look fairly flat and dull. Lucky the single player portion looks fairly decent with a good amount detail to the characters at least and some of the areas and vehicles players will ride in.

G.R.A.W's gameplay on the other hand is solid and is the main way in which G.R.A.W. redeems itself. The combat is very much like a third person shooter with cover mechanics in play. Players will also get to command a small squad and even other vehicles like tanks and UAV's at certain points. Players are even able to get an idea as to what their squad mates are seeing thanks to a camera that players can use at whim. This makes giving orders to teammates and moving them to a better position more easily at times. However when it comes to moving things like the UAV for example the controls are rather unruly and hard to handle. This in large part feels like players move said device like a UAV hard to handle as when players stop moving it keeps going a bit like it has its own mind as to where it wants to go. This can be quite frustrating at times but unfortunately players will have to learn to deal with this as they are essential to beating missions.

G.R.A.W.'s audio is ok but certainly not the best. The voice acting is solid but the main character comes across as your typical grunt in an army and not a professional special ops solider at times. The gun sound effects don't sound authentic at all and this is especially true for the mini gun that players will use at various parts of the campaign. Guns sound faked like no real work was done into as to who the guns actually sound.

Overall Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is an ok game but one that players may want to rent first before considering purchasing.
