Great all around racing experience. The variety and story will keep you hooked!

I had been looking for the ultimate driving/racing game for the PC when I stumbled onto TOCA 2: Race Driver. Originally I purchased it on PC DVD and played head to head with a few of my friends. Why you ask am I talking about the PC version when I am supposed to be reviewing the XBOX version? Well a couple of months ago my gaming PC died and so too went my TOCA 2 racing on the PC. I have since purchased an XBOX and have picked up several XBOX racing titles. I have found them interesting but I seem to loose interest quickly because of the lack of variety most racing titles seem to have. They might have lots of cars (of the same general type) and lots of tracks but eventually everything just starts looking the same. This isn't the case with TOCA 2. The variety of vehicle types is awesome. One race you might be in an open wheeled formula car and the next you will be behind the wheel of an off-road truck. There are vintage cars and tractor trailers too! You won't find silly races in which you can mix vehicle types but there is a distinct challenge related to each vehicle type so you must vary your driving style from race to race. There is real damage and this works well and is realistic. I especially love how the doors flap in the wind or how you can still run on three wheels in a formula car (provided it’s a front wheel on the outside). The tracks and their characteristics provide a nice mix as well. The graphics a very well done and are identical between PC and XBOX versions. The cut scenes are fun as well. There is a story to this game and at each completion point you get to experience the thrill or anguish a rooky circuit driver must feel. The characters in the story are well rendered, voiced and provide lots of comic relief without being over the top. This is all just in single player mode... Did I mention you can play on Live! Well buckle your seat belts and hang on because racing against the AI players is fun but when you get out on the track with 8 other humans it’s a blast! Well all in all I definitely recommend this game and welcome anyone who reads this review and who picks up the game to shoot me an e-mail. I love racing and would welcome any and all challenges!
