More than just CoD with mechs

User Rating: 10 | Titanfall XONE

Titanfall is an epic update to the FPS genre. Tauted by many critics as CoD with mechs, I disagree. True they are both fast paced FPSs with roots from the same creative minds. Titanfall has appeal to casual and hardcore gamers alike, while CoD seems to weed out the casual players. In Titanfall, players of every skill level can contribute to a winning game in most of the game modes (where as in CoD highly skilled players make or break matches). One area where Titanfall most differs from CoD is the lack of being killed within milliseconds of spawning in. I have yet to experience this in Titanfall, but have experienced hours of this in CoD (pick your flavor).

The mechanics of FPS games are straight forward when done well (as they are in CoD and Titanfall), so it is easy for an uninterested gamer to make the leaps of judgement that lead to comments like "CoD with mechs," but Titanfall takes what CoD does right to the next level with the amazing flexibility of mobility of your pilot. Double-jumping alone sets it apart, but wall running and the infinite combinations you can derive from wallhangs, wall running, and double jumping make this game a completely different animal.

Not to mention the Titans. Titans are much more than the Mantis from Halo4 (which was fun in its own right). The Titan can be an extension of the pilot or his greatest ally. Better than an AI controlled Jaggernaut a la Ghosts.

Titan fall is a great game that contributes innovation and fun to the FPS genre!
