Time Shift is a really good game and deserves a much higher rating than 6.5!
I have played a variety of types of games such as all of the call of duty series/black ops, the splinter cell and Crysis series, Second Sight, Psi Ops, Deus Ex, Heavy Rain, TimeSplitters and Bioshock and Battlefield series, 007 and Sniper games, Metal Gears, Resident Evil series etc etc etc and I really rate Timeshift!!! I really enjoyed it!
I didn't have any problems whatsoever with game play or with the controls. I read in one review that said learning the controls and time control abilities took a very long time to learn even for experienced FPS players. I found the controls simple to master so was rather surprised to see that comment?! It's like any game, it just takes a few goes to be able to remember which button does what but you get plenty of time as the game progresses to get used to each time shifting 'power'.
I think the scenery in the missions is excellent and I loved the choice of weapons, and the variety of enemies. Get yourself a cross-bow or Hellfire and go to town! I also liked having to work out which of the time stopping, slowing or reversing powers you needed to use to proceed in the game or thwart the enemy so that you don't get your butt annihilated. .
I don't get caught up in all the wankery of things like .... oooh the visuals aren't as good as game X ..... or the dialogue is isn't as good as game Y ...... who really gives a crap about that ... enjoy a game for what it is... and I rate this game as fun++
