Time travelling concept spoilt by broken game-play, and fractured story.

I used to love the concept of time travel, in fact I still do. Which is what drawn me to play Time Shift.

The story of the game takes place in what I think is an alternate 1930's where a professor has stolen a suit which allows travel back through time. Before he stole the suit he rigged up a lab to explode, luck illy another un-nammed scientist uses the beta suit to pursue the rouge professor back in time.

Those who have played Half Life will quickly learn that a professor using guns was stolen from the Half Life games.

The controls are clunky and awkward at best, especially on the PS3 version of the game. At times I found myself throwing a grenade when I wanted to switch to another weapon.

The time control mechanics do in fact work well, and the game will automatically assign a time control power to a certain situation which makes it easier as its a one-button concept. You can use a different power if you need to, as I found that at times the auto selection wouldn't select the best power to use.

Learning the controls and time control abilities does take a very long time even for experienced FPS players.

Also even on the easiest setting I had huge difficulties playing the game, now don't get me wrong I like a challenge, but the challenge in Timeshift is just too much. I was dying quite a lot, and the clunky controls did not help one bit.

The graphics are not the best I've seen, at times it just seems like they didn't take the time to improve on the graphics at all. The guns also seem like child's toys, and they just don't look like real guns.

The sound is varied, at times its good, at times its bad. There really wasn't any sounds or music that draws me into the game. However at the times when the sound is good, its really good.

The multi-player is lacking interest, as when I try to find a match. Am 8-player match only has 4 players including myself. The multi-player isn't fun.

Overall Timeshift is not the worst game out there, and its worth a try if you can get it cheap, but don't expect anything amazing from this game.
