Fun, but pretty lacking.

Here we are with another Time Crisis game, but this one is not the long-awaited sequel to the great Time Crisis 3. That doesn't make this game really bad, but the changes made to this game make it feel less like a Time Crisis game and more of a standard arcade shooter.

Gameplay:
We still have the standard don't-make-any-mistakes gameplay (still hard, but a little easier this time around), but this time we have Crisis Missions. These are new missions where you have an objective, like get a 200 hit combo without getting hit. These are much harder than the main campaign. Interesting sure, but just for a little while. In the main game you now have a machine gun, but the new enemies must have found out before because now they can take a lot more hits before falling. Remember the weapon-switch system from Time Crisis 3? Gone. You CAN still get other weapons, but you get them by shooting the yellow enemies, and after a while another weapon would make things better. Since the levels aren't really long, it's less of an annoyance than it could have been, but it's still a big disappointment that this wasn't part of the game. And since instead of the game finding a place for you to take cover in every area, you have this shield, the game doesn't have to work as hard. But nevertheless, there is still the "red" bullet that tells you if you're going to get hit, and shooting everything is still fun as ever. The destructible environments make things better here.

Graphics:
Good for a port of a five-year old arcade game, but not the best in general. I've seen much worse.

Sound:
Bad voice acting, okay bullet sounds, and the music is pretty unnoticeable. Still, it's not terrible/distracting, so Crisis Zone succeeds here.

Overall this is a game for light-gun fans that want another game to play, albeit short as most light-gun games are. They'll probably overlook the problems this game has, like I did. But Namco, where is Time Crisis 4?
