Let me start by saying that I am not an avid gamer. I am a professional, in my late 30's, who can recall visions of my childhood when I would do video game "all-nighters". Of course, this was back in the 80's, and the most interesting system out was the Atari 2600, with the "thunk, thunk, thunk" Pac-Man game (most of you youngsters cannot relate....) I purchased a Wii and Xbox 360 with the hopes of spending my "free time" re-living my youth, but generally there just isn't any time. So, 95%+ of the usage of my console goes to my 9 and 7 year olds.

That changed the day I got Tiger Woods 10. From the get-go, you know that this is a different type of game. The responsiveness of the control (I have the Motion Plus controller) is almost scary. I spent 10 minutes with the game out of the box just rotating my hands left and right and watching the response on the screen. The tutorials were excellent, and I felt that I was almost getting a lesson in golf as much as a lesson in the Tiger Woods game.

I was MOST impressed by the putting capability. Like others, I have played the golfing simulators that just do not do putting justice. Reading the "putter power" on the screen and trying to swing appropriately does not cut it. Putting in TW10 feels VERY SIMILAR if not THE SAME as being out on the golf course.

I have previously tried to get my boys interested in "real" golf. They have gone out to hack with me once, or twice, but have not picked up the bug yet. So, I did not even tell them I had TW10 - because I did not think they would be interested. Boy was I wrong.

We played our first Play Now game together on Saturday morning. The boys put it on All-Play, and I had my settings on Standard Play. Two hours later, they had kicked my butt - but we all had a really good time. All they would ask for during the rest of the weekend was to play the golf game. We did not stop (except to eat, sleep, and run a few errands) until late Sunday night - and only because my wife insisted I get them ready for bed so that they could go to school the next morning.

I have not played the Disc golf yet, but my 7 year old has. He enjoys that game about as much as the golf. It also, has a very real feel to it. Throwing the frisbee with the Wiimote felt like throwing a real frisbee.

There are more features than I can detail here, and I certainly have not tried them all. But, you can tell that a lot of thought was put into the game.

The only detraction I have, and thus rated it a 9.0 instead of a 10, is the graphics. I certainly may be biased by having an Xbox 360, but the graphics leave a lot to be desired. I would be fully immersed in the game if not for the visual reminders that this is simply a video game. Nothing seems particularly "real", and I know that current gen systems can do better (though maybe not the Wii).

All in all, the graphics do not take away too much from the gameplay. It is a solid game that seems to have a lot of replay value.
