In Dragon Age 2, you're a human(yes, only a human, with a set surname, Hawke, no other races selectable) that's home has been overrun and you have to enter a safe city. This game's gameplay, you'll notice, has more of an action-game feel to it. Instead of the still skill, attack, skill, attack, it seems more like.. well, xxxxxxxxxx button mashing attack. But that could me just me. The graphics from the game have made leaps and bounds definately. The character actually speaks, but he doesn't say the exact text you select, he just says something to that effect. I also think the characters don't have as noticeable personalities, such as characters in the last game like: Alistair who is an ex-templar-believer-in-might-and-glory, Morrigan who doesn't mind when you do not so honourable things, Leliana an intensely religious person, and Oghren, who loves killing and more importantly drinking ale. It now seems that the characters don't get built up as much, I believe you can manipulate them more than the first one. Overall a good game.
