The game follows the main character of Neku Sakuraba who you later figure out died and is now involved in something called the Reaper's Game. Neku also finds out later that there are entry fees to playing this game and his entry fee for this round was his memory. His memory was his entry fee he finds out from Cat, explained way later in the game so play it to find out, anyway back to what i was saying. He meets up with this girl by the name of Shiki Misaki and she becomes his partner in this game. Shiki explains to Neku that in order to survive in this game you have to fight alongside a partner otherwise you will be erased, being erased in the Reaper's Game is like dying permanently. She also explains to Neku that the Reaper's Game is a game that will give you a second chance at life if you win it. This being said they are attacked by noise or the enemies in the game. Shiki then proceeds to tell Neku the only way to survive against these things is to erase them before you are erased and continues to tell him that he has to use pins to attack the noise. Pins are what you use in this game to attack monsters and the more you play the more Pins you get and the stronger they are. The story continues to tell that there are only 7 days to win the game and in 7 days you eventually have to fight whats called a GM (game master) and if you beat him you clear the game. Well in all this commotion Neku falls in love with Shiki or starts to really care for her soooo he 'dies' again and this time his entry fee was Shiki so he has to play through the game again in order to rescue Shiki from dying permanently. Okay i hope you all weren't hoping for me to reveal all of the game to you because if you were you aren't getting it from me. If you want to learn what happens after the 1st 7 days you will have to buy the game yourself and play through it at the same time and trust me its a game worth every single penny. :P
