The Witcher is a game based on a book and is therefore heavily story driven. It is a dark fantasy game with an excellent plot and interesting characters. It has great music and good graphics and animations. That being said, as for a game, The Witcher is not satisfying at all. From everything to bad inventory system to bad combat and endless fetch quests. The combat is simplistic and unsatisfying. "Just click at the right time, oops, wrong tactics, need to change to heavy, *click* i missed to click on the right time so he stops swinging, there we go, wait a second, wrong sword, need to change." This is the only things you have in mind when fighting an enemy and it is very boring for most people. You also have very basic magic abilities you can cast on the enemy in between the sword swinging. Probably the easiest way to win a fight. Now the inventory system is a mess, you collect random junk in your inventory bag that becomes useful at some part of the game, the problem is that you get full all the time, the worst part is that you share your "quest scrolls" in the same inventory bag. So if you collect 5 new quests from scrolls your inventory will suffer from it. So i often have to drop stuff i dont really want to drop and its just again very tedious. Now to the quests. Holy Piss this what ruins the game experience the most! Never in any game have i run back and forth on the same areas over and over just to be able to advance to the next area. All you do is to run between people and talk. You go to one character, talk with him, in order to speak with him further you need to talk to another person across the map, do a fetch quest for him so that the person can give you information, run back to the first person again and it starts over again. Its like you run between people just to unlock new subjects to freaking talk about. Act 2 suffers from this the ENTIRE act! Running between the same people like a puppy. And if that isnt bad enough, some people are only available at a certain time of the day so youll be running between fireplaces to rest in between also. Its a total mess and only makes you become bored to death and you only feel like youre wasting your time in this game. The part where you get drunk and walk slower than crawling speed, its just there to slow down the game even more. As for me and so many other people i stopped playing because of how bored i became of the game. My last attempt (the fifth) i had just finished the swamp, but when i came to even another town that was just as awful as the one in act 2 i just couldnt take it any more. So the only reason any one would like this game is because of the story. And to be honest, the story isnt super interesting anyways.
There is probably only one bad thing I can say about this game: the loading times between areas are awfully long. If you can live with that, and you love classic RPGs, you're going to enjoy The Witcher. The game is one o... Read Full Review
