Just like a book from Andrzej Sapkowski... The wild Hunt is not over... Game of the Decade

User Rating: 10 | The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings PC
After seeing so much reviews of that game by some fanboys and critics alike, I can only suggest you to check for 1up and Gametrailer for their review of the game that is quite accurate. This game is pure greatness and shame for the ones unable to see it. At least, simply spare us your blind fanboyism and go back to your consoles.

This game got the best decision system I have ever seen. The story can unfold like Heavy Rain... and not other games on the market... except Chrono Trigger.

What is funny is seeing people complaining about the difficulty of the game. Well, I finished 3 times at hard so I can only disagree with them. Use your potions, your Quen sign and your bombs and stop rushing like an idiot toward a group of enemies. This is not a hack and slash, this is a real RPG. This game is not hard at all if you don't rush head down into the heat of the battle WITHOUT your potions, your signs, your bombs and your daggers.

-Simply said, the story is on par with the one of Heavy Rain... multiple endings, your choice matter and change the game entirely. Chapter 2 and 3 are totally different by the choice you make. This is like 2 or 3 games in the same one. This make the game 20 hours shorter than the first Witcher, but at the same time, way more focused on the main story which is really nice. The side quest are about 10 hours and they are not redundant and can be done at the same time as your main quest.

-Graphics are awesome, easy to run by a 200$ video card in 1080p. I strongly suggest a pair of 6850 or 460GTX. I run the game at max setting with ubersampling disable. Ubersambling is like running your game on 4 displays at the same time, so it is extremely demanding and nothing right now on the market can really run it. Still, I don't see any difference between the 2 modes.

-The soundtrack is really impressive, almost as much as the first game. What is even more fantastic is that a big part of it is also given to you in the retail package with the making of.

-What is fun about the gameplay is that a simple pack of enemies can kill you as much as a boss. If you are not careful, you will die easily. Use your magic, your bombs and your potion all the time. If you read the books, you will know that Geralt always take precautions before going into battle. His potions are what making him deadly, so take them all the time.

Finally, if you put the best graphics, an outstanding soundtrack, an immersive story true to the books and a challenging gameplay, you get The Witcher 2 Assassin of Kings, a game set in a dark fantasy world that real PC RPG fans should own.
