Style of this game makes you believe you live in a true fantasy world

User Rating: 9.5 | The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings PC
Why such a high score? Witcher 2 has some drawbacks that every other reviewer would classify as bad things and lower the final score, but in my opinion all those can be easily explained.
You got a fixed character and no open world sandbox ilusion what seems to become standard nowdays, but I say it's good. It's better to have smaller segmentys of world actually filled ith compelling content then deserts and copy-paste square miles of forests with single NPC that has very little to say. It is an RPG with an Adventure and story included, not Bear Grylls exploration party.

I won't tell you same old thing you gonna hear about great graphics, or gameplay mechanics (which finally are demanding and game is fairly difficult - you need to plan your battles ahead, set traps, dring potions prepair yourself for kind of enemy you gonna meet and then lure the bastards into your trap... Every battle is VERY exciting and Geralt is not just a dumb peon who slashes everything on the way getting hit bazylion times, but despite the fact being an awesome fencer, he can be beaten with couple weak blows and that's it - I like this idea, cause it makes game more tactic and means that Geralt is a briliant fighter because of his skill, witts and cunning planning, and not due to statistics that give him lots of life and resistance.)

BUT! The best two things here are: Style and Story.
Style - cause this game finally LOOKS medieval! Propper clothing, customs, this world is rugged, dirty, nast, full of ignorance, hate, while other "modernized" Fantasy games are so overly politicaly correct they are pathetic sometimes. Unlike dragon age which looks like rewritten work of Carl Marx and his socialist ideology of equality and common good, world of The Witcher is very realistic and BRUTAL, so very brutal! It's again moraly 'gray' there is no good or evil. People involved in big politics of bringing chaos to whole countries and creating new world orders are meddling with us, but at the same time it appears they are victims of someone's else manipulation.
Everything starting from people, equipment, edning on architecture, clothing, weapons, armors, all those LOOK like they should, based on real weapons and armors from medieval times. What's very appealing in times when fantasy games look ridiculous, like in case of again dragon age, where full plated armor reminds me of garbage containers... or Oblivion in which most elite troops wear buckets, are armed with katanas and shield themselves with pans...
Witcher 2 has the unique realistic style of medieval world, dark and crude.

Story is amazing... it's not same old 'Old evil and army of demons comes to destroy the world and you are the chosen one to save it...' sighs... As I said we get involved in big politics, in grand scheeming, astonishing plans with lots of twists, being betried many times by people we would not expect and where our enemies turn out to be our friends... but the best thing is we can't say it till the final part of the game! Story is unpredictable, and unlike other titles, we have no chance to forsee who is who really.

I am aware many of you will be disgusted with amount of foul language applied and gonna make a huge crusade how impropper that is, but I say it's just it's game style of showing you and saying out loud: IT IS NOT MODERN WORLD!!! It is dirty cruel miedieval realm, full of monsters, hate and unfairness, sexism, racism and such... JUST as our medieval world used to be too! And as mechanism - which transports us to this realm - the fould language and obscene humour of the game puts us deep in this universe.

The only reason why I haven't gave this game full 10 is the ending, which isn't as climactic and exciting as the one from first game, but that you have to see yourself.
